Glorious Goats

30 Sep

I really did enjoy the time I spent with the goats over the weekend, and it’s the first I’ve had a chance to just photograph them all happy and relaxed in a while.  Today, I’m just sharing more goatie bliss.

Pasture Scavenger Hunt and Giveaway.

29 Sep

This week all of the Scavenger Hunt Sunday items come from today’s walk in my pasture.  The topics are:  Rule of Thirds, Made Me Smile, Lines, Alone, and Together.

Together:  This is Scarlet and her boy, Casey, eating together.  I’m also using this for Song-ography this week.  The song is Two of Us.  Yep.  Scarlet and Casey at home in the Back Forty.

Alone:  This hawk was all alone flying over the pasture.

Lines:  As you can see by the dew, I was walking in the morning.  It’s a good thing the sun was sparkling along the lines of the spider web or I probably would have stepped on the spider and its home.

Rule of Thirds:  Cinderella enjoying the Back Forty.  I’m so glad the little girls have joined their moms out in pasture since I put the new fence in.

Made Me Smile:  There’s so many things in the pasture that make me smile.  I couldn’t narrow it down to just one picture.

Giveaway!  I’ve gotten the copies of my new novel, The Elements, so I thought I’d give a copy away.  It is a fantasy/romance, and is intended for mature audiences.  If you’d like to be entered for a copy, just let me know in the comments (I won’t enter you if you don’t specifically tell me to).  I won’t be offended if you don’t want to enter.  I know fantasy or romance is not for everyone. 🙂  I’ll leave the drawing open until next Sunday, and I’ll announce the winner on Monday.

Tomato Hostage

28 Sep

I am seriously being held hostage by the tomatoes.  I’ve been busy with them all day.  I started by picking the garden and then roasting a bunch.

Tomatoes

I’d never roasted tomatoes before this week. I tried it Thursday and decided they were so good I needed to do more.

Between Thursday and today, I roasted more than a five gallon bucket of tomatoes.

When they were done, I ran them through the vintage colander to make sauce.

Then I added some herbs and canned it.

I got twenty pints.  I did try it out on a pizza tonight, and I do think it was amazing!  I might even have to roast more when I get more tomatoes ripe.

I don’t have any more ripe tomatoes because this afternoon,  I made seven pints of salsa.

I think I’ll be seeing tomatoes in my sleep.
