Friday’s Hunt v3.24

16 Jun

Welcome back to Friday’s Hunt. I want to thank everyone who joined in last week. I had a lot of fun visiting everyone who linked up. It’s very simple. Anyone can participate. The link opens at 7pm Central time and will close Sunday at 7pm, so you have plenty of time to enter. Hopefully, you’ll be inspired to visit some of the other entries.

If you didn’t participate this week but would like to next week the topics will be: Starts with Y, Week’s Favorite, and splash. I will always keep a list of the items for the coming week in my sidebar at the top. I am crazy busy with working on the farm right now, but I will make sure to visit all participants. Without further ado, here’s my interpretations for the week.

Starts with X:  Believe it or not, I’ve had quite a few goats whose names started with X.  Blogging might have everything to do with that.  It is x-tremely important to note that it is completely x-ceptable to cheat on the letter X.   My goats: Xander, Xavier, Xena, Xerxes, Ximon.  Of course, I’m sharing Xerxes, who is the only one still here.

Week’s Favorite:  When I was trying to find the orioles’ nest, I ran into this fellow.  As unafraid as he was, it makes me wonder if it’s the one who was hanging out in the chicken coop.

Insect:  I know this jumping spider isn’t really an insect, but hopefully, he’s helping to keep them out of my soap room.

This bee is an insect.  I don’t want to get any closer to him.

Before I turn it over to you, I have a quick question as we’re nearing the end of round three.  Does everyone want to continue?  I’m enjoying it and love visiting your posts.  It’s about the only blog visiting I do these days since life has gotten so crazy.  I’m up for it if you are.  Any suggestions for changes/improvements (besides taking X out of the alphabet)?

Now it’s your turn!

Updated to add next week’s items. (Sorry)

Critters at the Patch

1 Oct

It’s always interesting to see who shows up at the pumpkin patch.  Today I had a red-bellied woodpecker playing hide and seek with me.  Seriously.  I finally managed to get a decent shot.

There were a half dozen vultures circling overhead for a little bit.  It kind of made me nervous.  Then there’s the beautiful garden spider with the web by the building.

Of course, Cutie and Strawberry are there.  Everyone keeps asking me about Cutie’s wattles.  I like to tell them that they’re just goatie jewelry.  Silly Ava and Charlie sneaked out of the yard and went out to pasture before I got them up there.

Then there’s this little cutie that showed up.  We are guessing we might have found the guilty party who was eating the Indian corn at night.

I put the started ears out tonight, so hopefully, he won’t start on any new ones.

Little Critters

28 Aug

This past week has reminded me that I need to have a whole week’s worth of blogging pictures since I don’t have time during the week now.  That means I went for a walk in the pasture and my yard Saturday afternoon.  Today, I’m sharing some of the little things I found.  The bee was enjoying the thistles that my yard goats are too short to eat.

The swallowtails are still enjoying the thistles too.

This spider was in the garden.  I used to hate them (mostly because I’d walk into their webs), but now I appreciate their beauty and all the bugs they eat.

I captured my first buckeye of the year!  It’s perfect!

Then there’s the fritillary.

This one was not so perfect.

I don’t know how the admiral is even able to live and fly with all the damage to its wings.

I’ll save the rest of my walk for the rest of the week.

If you want to join me for Friday’s Hunt next week, I have the items listed at the top of my side bar.
