Bird Blessings

24 Nov

I have to admit, I’ve not heard the song Blessed by Martina McBride, and I really did plan to listen to it, but I just didn’t get it done.  That means, my interpretation is based solely on the title (and what fits my farm posting).  With the cold weather, I have suddenly had an influx of birds at the feeders.

I’m sure they are feeling blessed with all the food I’ve put out for them.

I even have some peafowl and ducks that are feeling pretty blessed that the wind blew the hay against their pen where they could snack on some.

Your blue jay shots are my favorite. They were our High School mascot.

I love the jays! They might be bullies at the bird feeder, but they are beautiful.

Well, the title pretty much is the message of this song so….ya kinda nailed it :). I have to admit I am not much of a “bird person” BUT…you might make a believer outta me with these photos. Such gorgeous colors! Thanks for joining in on Song-ography. And I wish you and yours and very blessed Thanksgiving!

    • Teresa November 24, 2013 at 9:10 pm #

Thanks, Kathy. I was hoping it would be a pretty straightforward title. Thanks so much for hosting Song-ography. Hope you and your family are very blessed this holiday season (and always).

My goodness….the birds are indeed BLESSED. But your kind heart and generosity is paying you back with such a glorious array of beauties!!! You have peafowl on your farm?!! I love to listen to them. Super post, and great photos!!

    • Teresa November 25, 2013 at 8:06 am #

I have one peacock and three hens. I need to find a new male, so I can breed them. Mine are too closely related to be able to have babies.

The birds appreciate the feeders when the weather is so cold. Wonderful variety of birds, love the jays. Have a happy Thanksgiving and week ahead!

While blue jays are not my favorite, I can’t deny that they are one of the most beautiful birds I have ever seen.

    • Teresa November 25, 2013 at 8:06 am #

They can be a bit of a bully, but I can’t help but like them.

I hope you have found a way around the comment issues. It can be frustrating to write out and then have it disappear. I’ve started using the iPad and WP Reader, and it was a learning curve fraught with frustration. I seem to have figured it out, finally! Great shots of the blue jay. The starlings haven’t shown up yet, which is ok with me. Another pair of white-throated sparrows appeared, and I’m still waiting on the dark-eyed juncos to visit.

    • Teresa November 25, 2013 at 9:09 am #

I think I’ve made it easy for people to comment. Of course, I get the occasional anonymous comment when they forget their name, but I think it’s working. Hope your juncos show up soon. I always enjoy them.

Blue jays are very abundant around here. They are quite cheerful this time of year.

    • Teresa November 25, 2013 at 2:41 pm #

    Hi Teresa,

I love the pictures of the blue jay; it’s Blue Monday’s symbol.

    Have a good Blue Monday.

    • Teresa November 25, 2013 at 2:41 pm #

Thanks, Sally. I thought you might like my blue this week. 😉

  23. Lavender Dreams November 25, 2013 at 3:37 pm #

What great photos of the blue jay. I think I saw a scrub jay on the coast this weekend but I didn’t have my camera in my hand at the time. Love that snowy background, too! Stay warm my friend! Hugs!

    • Teresa November 25, 2013 at 3:41 pm #

I’ll be warm as long as I’m inside. It’s awfully cold for this early, but I guess we’ll all survive.

  24. Christian November 25, 2013 at 4:52 pm #

    Great birds and beautiful photos.

    • Teresa November 25, 2013 at 5:24 pm #

      Thanks, Christian.

  25. Hannah November 25, 2013 at 5:58 pm #

The blues on your Blue Jay are just fantastic. That’s the kind of Jay we had in Houston, now I have Stellar’s Jays in my yard and Scrub Jays nearby, which are pretty but not as colorful as yours.

    • Teresa November 25, 2013 at 6:06 pm #

Thanks for stopping by Hannah. I do love the bright colored jays we have around here.

  26. Pat November 25, 2013 at 6:21 pm #

Beautiful, colorful visitors you are blessed with.

    • Teresa November 25, 2013 at 6:34 pm #

Yes, and it’s nice to see that color in all the late fall drab.
