A Red-Bellied Friend

I was walking in the pasture this evening trying to get some pictures of the goats despite it being dusk.  I heard someone calling to me, begging to have their picture taken.  Considering how shy woodpeckers are and how dark it was, I’m pretty happy with these.

It’s been suggested by some that I should cut down all the dead trees before I plant new ones out there, but I think there’s a lot of critters that appreciate the shelter they provide.
