The Buffer Strip

31 Jul

The buffer strip is growing and the alfalfa and clover are blooming.

It needs made into hay again.  My nephew was going to mow the other day, but it was drizzly misting out, and there’s an unsettled forecast for the week.  You need dry weather for good hay, so he hasn’t mowed it yet.

That’s okay.  Until it gets mowed, there’s lots of critters enjoying the flowers.

I finally found a cooperative tiger swallowtail!

I’m so excited.  They are my most favorite butterfly.

If you want to join me for Friday’s Hunt this week, I’ve listed the items at the top of my sidebar.

Supervisor Snickers

30 Jul

While I had the open farm this morning, my mom and dad came out and we worked on some things.  My mom is painting some of those photo opp face boards (Do they have a real name?), and my dad was cutting the face holes out.

Snickers was inspecting my dad’s truck to make sure it was okay for it to be in my garage.

Then he was watching from the hay bale.

Later, when we were working on hinges for the screen door, he had to get a closer look.

If I hadn’t kept the door shut, he’d have been in the soap room checking to make sure we hung it properly.

I’m also pretty sure, I’ll have to find someplace where he isn’t in order to put the dots on the dice my dad made for my yard Yahtzee game.

He’s such a good supervisor!

I don’t know how we’d get anything done without him.

Friday’s Hunt v2.5

29 Jul

Welcome back to Friday’s Hunt.  I want to thank everyone who joined in last week.  I had a lot of fun visiting everyone who linked up.  It’s very simple.  Anyone can participate.  The link opens at 7pm Central time and will close Sunday at 7pm, so you have plenty of time to enter. Hopefully, you’ll be inspired to visit some of the other entries.

If you didn’t participate this week but would like to next week, the topics will be:  Starts with F, Week’s Favorite, and shiny.  I will always keep a list of the items for the coming week in my sidebar at the top. I am crazy busy on the farm right now, but I will make sure to visit all participants.  Without further ado, here’s my interpretations for the week.

Starts with E:  Elmer is one of Reva’s twin boys.  He’s awfully little like his mom.  He’s cute and sweet.  Of course his brother, Jacob, is pretty nice too.

Week’s Favorite:  I am happy to report that my corn looks good.  It’s nice to have one crop that is doing well.

Bounce:  About five minutes after I scheduled last week’s Friday’s Hunt post, I walked outside with my camera and Daisy was happy enough to bounce around for me.  I haven’t had anything better since then.
