Friday’s Hunt v3.21

26 May

Welcome back to Friday’s Hunt.  I want to thank everyone who joined in last week.  I had a lot of fun visiting everyone who linked up.  It’s very simple.  Anyone can participate.  The link opens at 7pm Central time and will close Sunday at 7pm, so you have plenty of time to enter.  Hopefully, you’ll be inspired to visit some of the other entries.

If you didn’t participate this week but would like to next week the topics will be:  Starts with V, Week’s Favorite, and inch.   I will always keep a list of the items for the coming week in my sidebar at the top.  I am crazy busy with teaching and working on the farm right now, but I will make sure to visit all participants.  Without further ado, here’s my interpretations for the week.

Starts with U:  I’ve only had one goat on the farm whose name has started with U–Ursula.  She was only here for a short time before she went to another farm as a bottle kid.

Ursula

Week’s Favorite: Finally getting weather to allow me to go out and walk in pasture is certainly my favorite of the week.

Robin

Kids:  What was I thinking?  I should have waited to do this prompt in a couple of weeks until I have new kids.  But, I will share Dolly and her kids.  When I let Dolly in to milk, we are joined by all three of her kids.  Sidney is a sweetie, and Andy just likes the food.  LilyAnn is learning to like me and enjoy having me scratch behind her horns.  She is supposed to be a keeper.

Clockwise from Dolly, Sidney, Andy and LilyAnn

We’ll see if I can truly tame her down.

Now it’s your turn!

Starts with T: All my goats that have started with T:  T-bone, Tango, Tansy, Tayet, Theodore, Thumper, Tina, Tiny Tim, Tish, Tom, Tommy, Tucker, Tuesday.  I only have one T-goat on the farm right now–Victoria’s boy, T-bone.

T-bone

Week’s Favorite:  I’ve really enjoyed the birds since I got my summer feeders out last weekend.  I’ve missed the feeders being out with yard goats for the last two years.

Food:  I am feeding a variety of foods, but the sunflower seeds seem to be their favorite!

Now it’s your turn!

Friday’s Hunt v3.19

12 May

Welcome back to Friday’s Hunt.  I want to thank everyone who joined in last week.  I had a lot of fun visiting everyone who linked up.  It’s very simple.  Anyone can participate.  The link opens at 7pm Central time and will close Sunday at 7pm, so you have plenty of time to enter.  Hopefully, you’ll be inspired to visit some of the other entries.

If you didn’t participate this week but would like to next week the topics will be:  Starts with T, Week’s Favorite, and food.   I will always keep a list of the items for the coming week in my sidebar at the top.  I am crazy busy with teaching and working on the farm right now, but I will make sure to visit all participants.  Without further ado, here’s my interpretations for the week.

Starts with S:  All the goats ever on the farm that start with S: Sage, Sage, Sal, Sallie, Sam, Sam, Sampson, Sandy, Sara, Sarah, Sasha, Scarlet, Scooby, Scott, Scout, Scout, Shaggy, Sherlock, Sherman, Shirley, Sidney, Silas, Silas, Silas, Simon, Simon, Sis, Skip, Skipper, Snap, Snape, Sofie, Sparkle, Sparrow, Special Ed, Spice, Spike, Spot, Squiggy, Squirt, Squishy, Stan, Stan, Star, Stormy, Strawberry, Sue, Sugar.

Stormy is one of my milking girls.  I found out from the vets that the withdrawal on Cydectin (what I used to worm them) has a fourteen day withdrawal on milk (17 for meat).  That’s good.  I will still probably work on freezing milk for kids to drink before I use it for lotion, but it’s good information to have.

Stormy

Week’s Favorite:  Our weather has been beautiful this week.  The goats are happy to get back to their lush pasture.  That makes me happy.

Coral

Family:  I usually have goats all hanging with their family, but the kids are getting old enough that they are all off playing while their moms are eating.  So you get nine-year-old twin sisters, Stormy and Litha.  I already mentioned that Stormy is one of the girls I milk, and Litha is the only goat on the farm to have quadruplets.
