The last day of my spring break was perfect! The weather was warm and calm. It was a perfect day for tackling the pile of tin that was left lying by the Amish crew that put up the shell of my new building.
I borrowed my dad’s truck and filled it up. By the time I had it all in there, it was quite full!
Luckily I had the help of my son for unloading.
We took it to the Car Country dumpster in my little town. It’s there for anyone to throw their scrap metal in. I’m pretty sure I filled it a time or two by myself last summer. Hopefully, I can do the same this year.
Today’s real treasure is getting rid of all that trash. Somebody might want it though. I may have seen my ninety-two-year-old uncle dumpster diving last summer. I love getting this junk cleaned up and recycled.
Now it’s ready for my nephew to finish moving dirt and sculpting the driveway and hill my building is on.

Hi Teresa ~~ It’s a shame those builder people didn’t clean up their mess they had made for you. It was very nice of your son to come help Mom. He looks strong so I’m sure he could do everything you needed done. My mom used to make lists of things she had thought of and saved for me to do.

Got to thinking. I know you enjoyed your spring break. I used to say that the best part of teaching was having summers off though I generally taught a six week class then, and next came the various long breaks we had, followed by the shorter breaks.

I would dearly love to farm full time. Teaching has truly changed (and not for the better) in the last twenty years.
I try not to speak badly of people, so I’ll just say they will not have any more business from me. He is a good boy/man.

I am thrilled they have it there. I don’t get money for selling the scrap metal, but the convenience is more than worth it!

I know what you mean about getting rid of junk! Here in our little town, we have an annual Junk Amnesty Days week every spring. It’s great! You can pile up all kinds (well not ALL kinds*) of junk that you need to get rid of, by the street, notify the city, and sometime during that week, a truck and the men will come by and pick it up! I don’t know if other towns have something like this or not. (*You can’t put out flammable stuff, paint, etc.) Yeah, I know you live in the country! 🙂
The small town used to do this too, but I think it’s been a couple of years. Hard to find volunteers to pick it up.
I guess what’s trash to one person is a treasure to someone else. I hope you enjoyed our spring break.

We are thinking: Yard Sale! Our neighbor had one and she made a lot of money. She had a lot of junk but you know they say one man’s junk is another’s treasure! You share the best photos here. Yard sales are a great way to clean things out. Not sure I’d have anyone come since I live in the country. Hope it works well for you!
There’s such satisfaction in hauling away a lot of construction material. A project never seems as far along as it really is, until the trash is gone!
I agree! Cleaning the farm seems to be a never-ending process though.
