We Are Family!

29 Feb

I often talk about the close family relationships the goats have.  When we were walking out in pasture the other day, I looked over and saw Kizzy with all of her descendants.

When we got half way across the Back Forty, I was ahead of the goats.  Look who came over the hill together.

I hope you’ll come back and join me for Friday’s Hunt.  The items for this week are at the top of my side bar.

I’m sharing today’s post with Kathy at Song-ography for the song We are Family by Sister Sledge.  Oops.  I forgot it was our week for a suggested song.  Does this work for Hello by Adele?

From My Walk in Pasture

28 Feb

Yesterday when I took the goats out to pasture to get them to quit fighting, I was smart enough to grab my camera and take with me.  Here’s some of what I saw.  There are four girls that are very close to having their kids.  Blaze is due on March 13th, but Gidget, Cookie and Haley have looser ligaments than Blaze.  I’m really worried that they will kid before they should.  In the even of an early birth, my mom came and helped me get all four of them in the yard.  They are easier for her to find and check while I’m at work that way.  They are easier for me to check at night too.

I also saw what looked like a broken window.  It wasn’t though.  It’s just ice.  There is not a lot of ice left out there, but there was enough shade in this spot to still have some.

Finally (at least for today), I saw Meg eating a bite of the last snow that was left out there.

It was a perfect day for walking in pasture.  It felt more like April than February.  Now we’re cooling off a bit to more normal temperatures, but it was beautiful for that day!

I do hope you’ll come back to join me for Friday’s Hunt this week.  The items for this week are at the top of my sidebar.

Today I’m sharing with The Good. The Random. The Fun.

Moving Goats Around

27 Feb

I am once again moving goats around.  This time it is to get ready for March kids.  We won’t be waiting much longer before they get here.

I’m especially worried about Gidget.  She’s not due for three weeks, but it feels like she’s completely lost her ligaments.  She should wait for at least two weeks before she even thinks about kidding.

When I took the girls that were still with boys and let them out into the main herd, it caused all kinds of chaos.  You’d never know that they are friends.

Everyone was fighting and bouncing.

The boys were a lot nicer than the girls.  I put Boeris up with Fionn.  It was just a couple of pushes.

Then Fionn went back to his lazy day.

The two little bucks were fighting more than the big boys.  You can see the video of their fight HERE.

After fighting and wandering out in pasture, the girls came back up and rested.  I love the details on Bambi’s face.

She is such a pretty girl.  Finally, here’s one of PJ as the photographer’s choice.

I figure I can’t go wrong with that!

Tomorrow I need to finish rearranging goats to prepare for the next little ones.  Hopefully it will still be a couple of weeks, but I figure I better be prepared.

If you want, there’s still time to join in on Friday’s Hunt.  The items are at the top of my sidebar.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday items in bold.  I’m also sharing with Fun Friday Favorites, Camera Critters, and Saturday’s Critters.
