Putting in the Fence

31 May

I was going to show you this last week, but I was distracted with everything going on.  My expert helpers put the fence in using the backhoe.  It’s really good for removing old posts.

It’s also what they used to put the new posts in.
You just want to trust your backhoe operator.

It’s a lot faster than the post driver, but they are a bit harder to get perfectly straight and at a uniform level.

Jeremy uses the feet of the hoe to make himself level and try to make the post straight.

It can be something of a challenge on my hills.

You really don’t want to see him sitting at an angle like this.  At least I don’t.  He seems to enjoy the challenge.

He’s pretty good at operating it, and uses the arm to push himself back onto a more level ground.

He’s across the ditch and ready to finish setting posts!

After the posts are in, you need to unroll the woven wire.

It was getting late in the day by the time they got this far.

I guess I’ll have to present the finished fence next week!

Blogging Buddies

30 May

I’ve been blogging faithfully for a while now, almost two years.  I’ve met some absolutely wonderful people in Blogland, and I’ve actually met a couple in person.  I do hope to meet more face to face.  I must say, I think all but one person I’ve met here on my blog have been the best most supportive group of people ever!  We were ever so excited and happy when Claire came by.

I try to keep my little corner of the Blogdom a nice place, even if it isn’t always happy.  One of my favorite expressions is “Because Nice Matters.”  I actually had that hanging on all four walls of my classroom as a constant reminder.

It’s a philosophy I try to live by, and when Marigold told us of her Goatmother’s diagnosis of cancer, it seemed natural to take her slogan and turn it into a blog button for her.  You can see it and grab it if you want from my sidebar.

Then I turned the design into a pin back button and a t-shirt.  You can order them from HERE, and ten percent (my commission) of the cost will be donated to cancer research.  That way you can help Butt the Hay Out of Cancer too!

Now, I’m only human, so there are other items in my zazzle store that I do get to keep the commission from.  I’ve had other blogging buddies encourage me to sell some of my pictures, so I am working on getting them uploaded, but I’ve barely gotten a start.

Thanks to all my wonderful blogging buddies out there!  You truly do make my world a happier place!

Out in the Back Forty

29 May

With the fence finished, the hay in, and me being done with school for the year, I let the goats out into the Back Forty today.  It didn’t take long for them to figure out that I opened the panel.

They crowded into the lane.  You’d never know they had the front pasture for the last two weeks they way they were acting.

Finally they headed out over the first hill,

and continued onto the bottom where we had made hay.

They were truly enjoying themselves.

I think we’re all happier now.
