Done With Wine

We finished our winemaking for this year.  We had one three-gallon carboy of wine left to bottle tonight.

It’s a sweet dessert wine that is made of apple and golden raisins.

Mirth

I call it Mirth because it makes you happy.

We’ll be ready to start again in the fall!  This year I want to do more of the wines that use our wild raspberries.

Bottling Wine

Over the weekend, we bottled three wines.  Madilyn’s Delight is a dry pumpkin wine.  The Apple-Plum is a new one this year.  Who knew you’d get a grapefruit taste by mixing apples and plums?  It’s an interesting blend, and even I can enjoy this one.  It just needs to age a bit to smooth its flavor.  Finally, we bottled some blackberry mead.  It will be ready to drink in two years.  Winemaking is not for the impatient.

We also racked our last wine.  Mirth is an apple and golden raisin sweet wine.

We’ll bottle it just before my toe surgery, and then we’ll be done until we start making wine again this fall!

 

Wine

I have to say, I cherish the memories we create when we make our wines.  I really enjoy the time spent with my family.

I’m pretty sure I never gave my son and nephews permission to grow up and get their own lives, but they seem to be doing just that.

We all laugh and sample the wine, and if Chris is back from his job in Indiana, I might sample a bit too much and get really giggly.
