Gloomy

28 Dec

The word that best describes my first half of winter break is gloomy.  We have been rainy, foggy, damp, misty, drizzly, calm, dark, muddy, and cloudy.  When you put all of those together, you get gloomy.

Can’t even see the windmill

Sky on my wet deck

I actually agree with Skittles on being annoyed with the weather

the mud, the water…

I’m keeping Antigone in because of her hooves

look how green it is

my rhubarb is trying to grow

they go out to pasture; ten minutes later it drizzles and they come back

Wanda is also staying in to make it easier on her back.

The weather is in transition today.  By tomorrow, we’re supposed to be back to more seasonal (aka cold) and clear weather. I am good with that.

Barnyard Scenes

27 Dec

This time of year is hard to blog because there’s not a lot going on.  So I’ll just share some more pictures of my babies.

Kong is so stinking cute peeking at me over the gate

Maybeline looks so gorgeous

Popcorn demonstrating how food pans keep the feet dry. (Moonshine to the left)

Ava loves standing on the tub (with her maa, Wanda, and Antigone behind)

Buffy and Miss Goose enjoying the fresh tub of water

Moonshine trying to get every last bit of corn.

Kong and Greg in the buck room pen (there’s no snow now)

The dog is not in the barnyard, but this is my view every day when I come in from the barnyard.

Sky is enjoying the warmer weather.

I do adore them.

Winter Pature

26 Dec

I felt bad with everyone shut in the barnyard since the snow was melting.

Maybeline

Sunday, I took pity on them and decided to open the gate.  While I was trying to untie the panel I had put across the opening, I felt someone behind me.  Yep. Skittles was checking out what I was doing.

Skittles was not happy I quit opening the panel in front of her so I could take a picture.

It only took her a hot minute to head through the gate.

It did get everyone else’s attention.  Dee was the first to check it out.

Dee was the first one out

Maybeline seemed to be confused as to how to get out (she needed to go walk through the barn and come back down).

Maybeline looking over the fence like she wanted it to disappear.

Ava and Dee stepped out for just a minute.  Skittles ate for a minute.

Kong and Greg have missed their friends.

But it was afternoon, and they were all waiting for me to feed them.  Spoiled.

The gang waiting for me to come feed them.

Anyhow, I was glad that they didn’t head out to pasture because if was just a couple of minutes before I heard shooting.  It was south of me, but I decided to close it up again for the rest of the day.

back out on pasture

It was the last day of deer season, so I did let them back out the next day.
