We’ve only been having real winter weather for a short time, but I do think I’m ready for winter to be done. At least it’s beautiful.
We finally have managed to get our temperatures above freezing! Yay! Of course, we have major rain with it.
Pistol and Antigone are the white shadows in the building.
It is a lot of rain. And there’s a lot of wind. I suppose I should be grateful it’s not sixteen inches of snow with those howling winds.
But we are all ready for some sunshine.

I think the water on top of the snow has been hard for the wild birds. Even without having been feeding the birds all winter, lots of them showed up today. (I did put more dog food out for them.)

I even had three wild turkeys go by in the corn field.

And then it turned to snow. But we’re supposed to get back up to warmer weather and more rain for much of the week. Sigh…

Hopefully, the rain and warm weather will at least get rid of the snow. Then we will be in mud season!
Our weather has been unusually warm this month. Don’t get me wrong, it’s been great for staying outside all day at the pumpkin patch. But today, we took a dive and have really cold rain. This weekend (just in time for the pumpkin patch) it’s supposed to be nice again. I think the birds might be confused too. We do have woodpeckers year round.
This ingenious red-bellied woodpecker figured out a do-it-yourself bird feeder.
But eastern bluebirds are here just during the summer months. I’d think it’s getting a bit late for them to be here. (You can click on the image to make it larger. The birds were really blending in.)
In contrast, dark-eyed juncos are usually here in the winter. I used to think they were just called snow birds because we never see them unless there’s snow, and then they are everywhere.
All of these images were taken during my walk yesterday.
I’m sharing today with Wild Bird Wednesday.
I do hope you’ll come back and join me for Friday’s Hunt. I have this week’s items listed in my sidebar.
