Rainy Day Bird Watching

With the cold rainy weather, there wasn’t much to do but watch birds out my window.

I think I need to wash the window.  Sadly, I really want to replace the window with a newer glass that doesn’t distort as badly.

Winter Hobby

Well, the horrible weather we’ve had means I’ve spent more time blogging in the last week than I have in ages. I’ve enjoyed it, but I do have things I need to get done outside.  I’d be much happier if this break had been filled with days that were 30 degrees and sunny.  It also means that I’ve spent a lot of time on another winter hobby: birdwatching.

I Gave In

I couldn’t stand seeing Jules all begging and sad to be shut in the house, so, despite losing a life in the oak tree fiasco, I let her out today.

Luckily, it was a lounging on the deck hoping a bird flew right into her eager little paws kind of day.

That did not happen, but I did notice that the male house finches are getting their breeding colors!  That has to mean spring.

I also saw a junco in pasture, however, which usually means winter.

I guess that’s spring in Iowa!
