The Garden is Growing

4 Jun

The rain last week was good for my garden.

It has, however, made it challenging to keep up with the weeds.  I’m also not a fan of weeding in horrible heat, but I’m working on it.

I am grateful for the help my mother has given me as well.

Besides the garden, I do have some raspberries that are growing in my yard (thanks to the birds).

I was worried that the late frost would damage them, but they look good.

Friday’s Hunt v3.4

27 Jan

Welcome back to Friday’s Hunt.  I want to thank everyone who joined in last week.  I had a lot of fun visiting everyone who linked up.  It’s very simple.  Anyone can participate.  The link opens at 7pm Central time and will close Sunday at 7pm, so you have plenty of time to enter.  Hopefully, you’ll be inspired to visit some of the other entries.

If you didn’t participate this week but would like to next week the topics will be:  Starts with E, Week’s Favorite, and personal.   I will always keep a list of the items for the coming week in my sidebar at the top.  I am crazy busy with teaching and working on the farm right now, but I will make sure to visit all participants.  Without further ado, here’s my interpretations for the week.

Starts with D: All the D goats in my herd–Daisy, Daisy, Daisy, Dale, Dana, Darla, Debbie, Delila, Delta, Desi, Dewey, Dion, Dixie, Dixon, Doe, Doe, Dolly, Dottie, Dough, Draco, Duchess, and Duke.  Dolly is the featured goat.  She is due to have oopsie babies on February 1st.  Maybe I’ll have to give her baby an E name. 😉

Week’s Favorite:  I seriously haven’t been able to go out and take many pictures this week between rainy, snowy weather and being sick and working and, and, and.  So I’m sharing a picture from last weekend for my favorite.  This was before this miserable streak of weather began.  Hopefully, it will bring back some dry weather for kidding this coming week.

Close Up:  My little lemon (or orange) tree is still blooming.

Do you see those two little green balls?  We have fruit!  Hopefully they continue to mature.  Then I can really figure out what kind of tree it is!

Now it’s your turn!

Garden Progress

11 Aug

My garden was horribly late getting planted, so it’s late to start producing.  I’ve mostly gotten a lot of zucchini so far.  That’s okay because I’m enjoying zucchini patties and zucchini brownies.  The beans have just started producing and the tomatoes are growing but still green.  I have one eggplant about ready.

I have a couple of good-sized pumpkins, and there are a lot of little ones.  Hopefully, they’ll do well, and I’ll have a bunch to take to the farmer’s market.

I also have peaches about ready to pick.  I’m hoping they will be ripe for me to take a bunch to the market this coming Friday.

If things keep progressing, it looks like I’ll have a bumper crop of apples

and plums.

Hopefully, they will make some yummy wine!
