Indoor Activities

1 Dec

It’s official.  All five days of my Thanksgiving break have had crummy weather: rain, wind, gloom, and this morning, I woke to snow.

They are big fat wet flakes.  I have no idea how I’m going to have pictures to do blog posts this week.  Hopefully, I can scrape together a couple posts from the few pictures I took on Wednesday.

In the meantime, it’s been a lot of indoor activities.  Mama and I have been having long philosophical conversations.  She’s quite the wise bird.

I finished a scarf that I started last February, and gave it to my mom.  Now I’m working on a new knitting project.

I can’t tell you too much about it because it will be a Christmas gift.

I also have been reading.  My current book is about the father of author Alexandre Dumas.  I had no idea his father was the son of a French aristocrat and a Hatian slave.  He also used his father’s military career as the basis for some of his novels, The Count of Monte Cristo and The Three Musketeers.

Anyhow, I have a reading buddy.  Rocky is always right there when I curl up with my book.

I also decided to try and work on some of the feed bag totes that have been cut out since the middle of the summer.

I still have more cut out to finish, but I got a good start.

I was completely out of the all flock feed, and I’d sold out of the goat feed and scratch grains too.

One afternoon I decided to try to photograph Sky wearing a Santa hat.

That didn’t work well because he doesn’t sit still.  I can’t get far enough away to take his picture either.  He’s plastered to my side.

Maybe the weather will get better and I can try putting it on Pluto.  He’d make an adorable Santa goat.

Friday’s Hunt v4.20

17 Nov

Welcome back to Friday’s Hunt. I want to thank everyone who joined in last week. I had a lot of fun visiting everyone who linked up. It’s very simple. Anyone can participate. The link opens at 7pm Central time and will close Sunday at 7pm, so you have plenty of time to enter. Hopefully, you’ll be inspired to visit some of the other entries.

We are working on round four! It’s hard to believe. I did make a slight change. It will still go through the alphabet for the first prompt, but there are two other prompts that will change each week. As always, you can choose to do one or all. If you enjoy the week’s favorite, by all means continue to add that. If you didn’t participate this week but would like to next week the topics will be: Starts with U, mosaic/collage, and “I ate this.” I will always keep a list of the items for the coming week in my sidebar at the top. I am crazy busy with work off the farm and everything on the farm right now, but I will try to make sure to visit all participants. I have to say, the change to my teaching assignment this year is really killing me. Without further ado, here’s my interpretations for the week.

Starts with T:  Tired.  There are a lot of us around here who are tired.  I’ll just share a napping Leo with you.

Black and White:  My sister brought me a butternut squash out of her garden since Sky ate most of mine.  I plan on enjoying it this weekend.

Paper:  I’m currently reading a paperback novel.  The pages are made of paper too.

Now it’s your turn!

Friday’s Hunt v3.1

6 Jan

Welcome back to Friday’s Hunt.  I can’t believe I’ve been doing this for a year now, and we are starting our third round!

If you didn’t participate this week but would like to next week the topics will be:  Starts with B, Week’s Favorite, and creature.   I will always keep a list of the items for the coming week in my sidebar at the top.  I am crazy busy with teaching and working on the farm right now, but I will make sure to visit all participants.  Without further ado, here’s my interpretations for the week.

Starts with A:  I’ve decided to do something a little different for this round.  For each letter of the alphabet, I’m going to list all the goats I’ve ever had that have started with that letter.  Yes, I do have goats for every letter, even if they are not currently on the farm.  A:  Abby, Al, Alex, Alvin, Amos, Amy, Andre, Angel, Annie, Art, Atticus, and Ava.  The only current goat on the farm that starts with A is Ava.

Week’s Favorite: Since I have Minnie with Helen and Wanda and Xerxes in the other half of the greenhouse, I’ve been taking peanuts out to give them when Helen gets her peanut butter meds.  Minnie practically demanded it, and it would be rude not to offer some to Wanda and Xerxes.  I’m pleased to say that Xerxes has decided I might not be so bad after all.  He loves the peanuts!  I do have to watch that he doesn’t get my fingers too though.  Maybe there is hope for turning him into a nice goat instead of a fraidy goat.

Beginning:  I showed you some of the art I was creating out of books yesterday.  Well, it might be the beginning of a new obsession.  Good thing I have  a lot of books. I’m hoping to get a variety of these done to put in my soap room for sale.
