Friday’s Hunt v4.5

4 Aug

Welcome back to Friday’s Hunt. I want to thank everyone who joined in last week. I had a lot of fun visiting everyone who linked up. It’s very simple. Anyone can participate. The link opens at 7pm Central time and will close Sunday at 7pm, so you have plenty of time to enter. Hopefully, you’ll be inspired to visit some of the other entries.

We are working on round four! It’s hard to believe. I did make a slight change. It will still go through the alphabet for the first prompt, but there are two other prompts that will change each week. As always, you can choose to do one or all. If you enjoy the week’s favorite, by all means continue to add that. If you didn’t participate this week but would like to next week the topics will be: Starts with F, self (portrait), and new. I will always keep a list of the items for the coming week in my sidebar at the top. I am crazy busy with working on the farm right now, but I will make sure to visit all participants. Without further ado, here’s my interpretations for the week.

Starts with E:  Estarr starts with E.  In fact, the farm she came from names all their llamas E????.  I guess, if Ollie managed to breed her, I’ll have to keep with that tradition.

Drop(s): We finally had some much needed rain early on Thursday.  It wasn’t much–only about 1/10 of an inch, but I am grateful for every drop.

Happy: Sky is always a pretty happy guy, but when I let him play in the water, he’s really happy!

Obviously, I am not good at taking pictures with my cell phone while spraying the dog with water.  That’s way more multi-tasking than I can handle.

Here’s a video version.

Now it’s your turn!

A Short Walk in the Buffer Strip

17 Jul

I was going to go for a walk in the pasture, but the sight of a kid in the buffer strip snacking on alfalfa changed that plan.  I hopped the fence, hung my camera on a post and walked back and forth several times before quickly grabbing a back leg and landing on my knees.  But I caught the little stinker.  In case you can’t tell, my little boys that look just like their daddy, Sam, are wild.  I am not even sure which one this was.

Colt (I think)

But I tossed him over the fence to go play with the rest of the kids.

While I was in the buffer strip, I thought I’d walk around (and take the easy way back instead of climbing the fence again).  Obviously, the alfalfa is blooming.  It’s once again past ready to cut and bale.

The bees are happy though.

So are the butterflies.

I know, the monarch is on clover (along with the honeybee), but they were flitting from clover to alfalfa to clover again.  It was positively buzzing out there.

I do hope you’ll come back to join me for Friday’s Hunt.  I have this week’s items listed at the top of my side bar.

Puppy Rule Infractions

16 Jul

I can’t keep up.  I swear Sky is a maniac!  To simplify, I’ve taken to just two rules:  Don’t kill anything; don’t destroy anything.

Sky (silly boy)

Lately he has:

  • eaten the remote control for the tv converter box
  • eaten his brand new big boy collar,

brand new collar in two pieces

  • stolen a zucchini from the counter and ate it
  • stolen an Anaheim chili pepper from the counter and tried to eat it
  • stomped on a cabbage in the garden killing it and later dragging it all over the yard to play with his kill,

chasing the frisbee (good boy)

  • caught and tossed toads in the air to play catch with himself
  • killed birds from my bird feeders (which are now empty until I get around to moving them)
  • rolled all over a dead bird in ripe mulberries,

mulberry stains and the plant leaf that he ripped off a plant

  • ate my hosta blooms

One of the lucky survivors–so far.

  • digs a hole whenever I use the garden hose

chilling under the deck

I’m pretty sure I’m leaving some things out.  He really needs to grow up soon.

I hope you’ll come back to join me for Friday’s Hunt.  I have this week’s items at the top of my side bar.
