Summer Projects

2 May

I have quite a few projects in the works right now.  Some I’ve already started, like cleaning twenty-four years of excessive stuff out of the house and buildings.  I keep filling the dumpster.  My hope is that when I get done with the basement, I can get someone here to do some waterproofing.  Our recent rains have reminded me how much I need to get that done.

The board is new after the derecho; the water stains are from our recent rains.

I also need to do something in the front of my house where it’s currently mud.  I think, for now, I want to put strawberries there.  I might even try some rhubarb.

I also need to find a time next month to finish my deck now that it’s had time to cure.

Now that I have the goats out of the garage, I need to clean it out.  Seriously.  I am tired of my garage being a barn.

I also need to get the Ranger worked on.  It won’t keep running.  Hopefully, my son will find time to get it fixed because I need it to do some projects like cleaning up the barnyard.

I have a lot of old posts and limbs that need to be hauled up north and burned.

Most of this is from derecho cleanup.  It will be a massive bonfire.

Another big project is working on the birds’ building/pen.  To do that, I had to start by hobbling the greenhouse to put the birds in it.  My dad came and helped me with the last little bit of hobbling, and then my mom came the next night to help me catch the birds.

These two brown leghorns are totally wild things.

Then I want to clean and make the outside pen much more secure again.  I also want to remove the part of the outside pen that has a limb in it.  I’ll return it to the north paddock for the goats.

We got everyone moved!

Add to the list regular yard work, planting my garden, and a two-week genealogy road trip, it’s looking like it’s going to be a super busy summer.
