Aphrodite’s Baby

16 Apr

Friday was mostly spent watching Aphrodite.  She was obviously going to have her baby, but I had no idea how long it was going to take.

It’s what my mom and I refer to as watching paint dry.

Plenty of time for a snack before giving birth

At least this time, I had Venus and her boy, Cody, to help entertain me.

Venus and Cody

Finally, I gave up the hope that she was going to have her baby and I could go to bed on time and stay there.  I still had the mattress in the soap room, so I set the oven time for an hour and then went and checked her.  This continued until 1:30 am.  She was pushing then.  But she didn’t seem to be making progress, so I checked her and felt a foot and teeth.  It took a minute to find the second foot bent back at the knee.  Once I got both feet in position and stretched out in front of her, she just fell out.

Meet Aphrodite’s little girl.

And tonight, I get to just go to bed and stay there!
