Seasons Are Changing

13 Nov

Last Saturday was beautiful, sunny and close to 70°F.  This Saturday is cold, windy and we’ll be lucky to hit 40°F.

We had a wonderfully rainy Wednesday.  It’s still a bit wet in the barnyard, which makes it  somewhat of a challenge to feed the goats their corn when they keep walking in the pans.

Yesterday morning, I woke to freezing rain and snow.

Some snow left today

The winds have taken most of the leaves from the trees.  I think it looks funny to see the bare trees while the shrubs close to the ground are still green.

Luckily, the goats are still going out in pasture and eating; I am not ready to start haying them every day.

The llamas are spending almost all of their time out in pasture.

This is also the time of year I start to worry about Aurora.  I really wish I could get a bit more weight on her, but nothing I’ve done helps.

Aurora

At least this year she only had the belly cut to keep her cool.  That will give her a bit more warmth going into the cold weather.

I think the winds this week pretty much finished off my little tarp hut up north.  I need to take it down and repurpose it as window coverings.

That’s okay.  With just the three bucks up there, they have plenty of room in the lean-to.

It’s the time of year when I’m constantly opening the door to let Bob out and the window to let Bob in.

At some point I’m going to have to do some serious winterizing, but I think I’m going to stay in denial that winter is almost here,

at least for a little while yet.
