Severe

4 Oct

Well, the drought continues, and the latest drought monitor (released last Thursday) saw my farm drop into the severe classification.

The weird thing is, this is the best yield I’ve ever had with my soybeans.  But they’ve done a lot with beans to make them more drought tolerant.  It has definitely worked.

I’m pretty sure I’m going to lose trees from this.  My lilac bush seems to have given one last gasp of life in producing a blossom in  Sept/Oct.

I don’t think it will live.  The green/yellow leaves in the background is my plum tree.  All the little ones coming up died; I just hope it makes it.

I have never had as bad a garden year as this. The pumpkins were rotting.  It’s just horrible.

Found a few peppers my last visit up there.

My sweet corn, colored corn and popcorn were really non-existent.

I really hope this drought ends soon.  I might try to scale down the size of my garden next year.
