First Fresheners

23 Sep

As I start thinking about next year’s kidding, I have quite a few girls who will have kids for the first time.  The two-year-olds are:

Trace

Purl

Flora

My only true yearling to be a first freshener will be Perdita.

Perdita

She’ll wait until June, so that will give her a bit more time to grow.

Those are all very pretty young ladies! I have a question, concerning Perdita: Will being pregnant at such a young age cause her any problems? Such as slowing her growth?

It is fairly common to breed them to have their first kids when they are around a year old. I decided that is too hard on them. They are more likely to have a hard time. I will breed them for fifteen months, but I am fine with them not kidding that age. I think I’m going to wait with Perdita and have her kid at the age of two. Joy got bred without my approval and had her first at eleven months. Don’t want to do that again.
