Spring Blooms

4 May

We have lots of things blooming right now!

I was a bit worried the crab apple and cherry blooms might have frozen with our last cold snap, but they look good; although our high winds have since destroyed them.

It’s been really dry this past month, which kind of has me worried for what the summer/growing season is going to be like.

Like I said, it’s been really windy, so it’s hard to photograph those delicate flowers.  I was pleasantly surprised to see one lone bleeding heart.  It was under the magnolia tree I lost in the derecho, and they prefer shade.  I don’t know what’s going to happen there. I guess we’ll see.

The lilacs are beautiful!  I love their scent.

I finally got around to clearing my asparagus patches off.

My plum tree is in really bad shape.  Once again I’m going to try to dig up and replant a couple of the new little ones coming up.

Hopefully, they will survive if I do it while they are really small.

I also forgot to share that my dad finally came and took my lawn ornament.

Dad getting his mower

You might remember that the mower he loaned me lost its steering.  After sitting in my yard all winter, my dad brought out his brand new tractor.

Yep.  That’s how it went back into town.  LOL

Bless my dad, he’s been mowing my yards for me, but I need to figure something out.

Your flower pictures are so beautiful! I love all the colors! We don’t have a lilac bush, but there’s one right on the other side of the fence. So I do get to enjoy that, even though I don’t dare bring any in the house, since my daughter is very allergic to almost all flowers. Yours has a lovely, rich color! Nice!!

When you mentioned that your dad came and took away your lawn ornament, I was trying to think what it the world you were talking about at first! Do you think he’ll try to fix it, or get someone to do that? It seems a shame that it might be junked! I had to chuckle at the pictures of the mower on the front end of the new tractor. Good job, Dad!! – How far does he live from you? I was wondering how far he had to take it, and hoping he had no problems.

The mower is super old, and he fixed the steering, but now it won’t start without being jumped, so it’s really probably ready to be junked. It made it the mile+ to his house with no problems!
