Done Kidding…For a Few Days

16 Mar

Annie was due on March 10th.  She was having contractions throughout the evening and overnight of the 13th into the 14th.  I finally did a check late in the morning, and her cervix wasn’t open yet, so I was patient.  The entire time, she just kept munching and eating on the leftover hay in the garage.  I told her she had to give birth before I fed her anymore.  Wanda was upset with that, but I really needed Annie to focus on giving birth.

I finally checked again, and her cervix was open and I could feel a kid right there.  She just needed to push, so I finished chores and came back.  She would paw the ground and then lie down and clamp her legs together and declare that nothing was coming through there and I couldn’t make her.

Just try to make her.

So I called the vet.  I held Annie, and Dr. Aimee finished opening up her cervix and worked pretty hard to get this one big girl here.

I really did tell Annie that I told her so…

But it’s all good.

The baby arrived, and I gave all three girls in the garage more to eat.

As a bonus, Mary actually had her oopsie babies on Sunday before I returned to work.

She decided to return to the trend of having twins–a buck and a doe.

Trace (doe) and Quatro (buck)

Seems like a good choice.  Now I should be done for about two weeks.
