We have started with our kidding for 2020.  Only four days into the new year, Maisie had our first oopsie baby.

Obviously, she cannot spell.  Goats are cold weather breeders.  The adage around these parts is that goats won’t settle in a month that doesn’t have an “r” in it, meaning they breed September through April.  Having a baby on January 4th means she settled around August 5th.  Note.  There is no “r” in August.

This is one huge baby.  One baby.  Our first oopsie baby.  So, meet Uno.

Uncle Tony is checking him out.

This kid is huge!  I really did not think I was going to get him out.  I even called the vet. That’s usually the thing that makes them get here, but not this time.  The vet was already on my gravel road before I finally got him out.  He was pretty much lodged in at the shoulders.   And he’s tall.  The picture below is horrible, but I wanted to show you that he stands taller than the five-gallon bucket.

But he arrived safely.  Maisie is doing well.  We’re going to say it’s a good start to the kidding year!
