It was time for the llamas to get their hair cuts!  That means, I had to get eveyone shut in to prepare for it.  Tony was easy peasy.  I just gave him his food and shut the door while he was eating.

Luckily, the girls are pretty nosy and like food too.  Before I even added pans of llama feed, Odie had gone into the greenhouse to check out the hay that the goats hadn’t eaten.

Maybeline and Aurora were quick to follow.

Then it was time to get sheared.  Last year, Maybeline was amazing for him and just stood in the garage while he worked on her.  This year, her personality change was on full display.

She was quite naughty.  So much so that I asked if he had an extra charge for llamas being a pain in the butt?

Next was Odie, and she was pretty good.

Aurora was next.

She decided to lay down.

It’s not like shearing is painful.  Then she screamed and kicked and threw a total hissy fit when it was time for her hooves to be done.

Tony was pretty good too.

They all look much cooler now!

Of course, the first thing they do is go for the dust bowl to have a good roll.  That haircut leaves them itchy for a few days.  Still better than getting overheated.

I still don’t know if Odie and Maybeline are going to have crias.  Llamas are notorious for hiding that information.

That is definitely a job I’m glad to have done.  I’m also going to say that having them sheared lets you really see how they are doing for weight.  The shearer did say that he was seeing a lot of skinny llamas after the horrible winter we had, but Aurora and Tony are actually looking good!

That is also a huge relief.

As soon as I read the first sentence I thought, “Oh, the girls are going to give some trouble”. Ha. Glad all are done and looking good.

Ahhh!! They’re looking beautiful!! Shearers must have to be tough, to do that work!

By the way — What did Penny do to injure her udder??

I’m not sure what she did originally. It was pretty much healed though until all that milk dropped and the skin had to stretch. It’s doing much better again now.

I’m glad it’s doing better now. It looks SO painful in the picture!!

I know, but she is much better now!

They really look great! I laughed at Aurora laying down for her haircut. Curious as to why Maybelline and Odie had their necks done, but not Aurora and Tony?

Different fleece. Odie and Maybeline get sooooo hot. Next year, they’ll all get a full cut.
