Winter Is Here

26 Dec

We’ve had an unusually warm fall.  Now that winter is here, it’s hit with a vengeance.  We had snow overnight into Christmas Eve morning.

Now we’re frigid cold.  It’s too cold to do anything but try to stay warm.  Aurora is staying inside the greenhouse.

The bucks were all huddled together in the Quonset hut; although, Xerxes was willing to risk coming out if I might have peanuts.  Silly buck.

Sam’s back side, Fionn, and Xerxes

I swear Mary doesn’t feel cold.  She’s always out looking for a bite to eat when everyone else is huddled against the barn trying to catch nonexistent warmth from the sun.

Mary (and Sydney standing in the background)

Maybeline and Odie are shut in the garage.  It’s even below freezing in there.  Dang.

It doesn’t look like it’s going to get any better soon.

I have decided that if/when the ISU vets come back for Aurora, I’ll have them ultrasound Maybeline and Odie because I’m starting to think I was wrong about them being bred.

Brrrr! That’s cold all right! Almost as bad as when we lived in Canada! I’m almost ashamed to tell you that we’re having 50 degrees this afternoon – and that’s without sunshine. But that’s western Oregon for you.
