Good-bye to an Old Friend

30 Sep

If you haven’t been hanging around here for years, you probably don’t know that I used to have an ox and his companion cow.  After I lost the steer, Maxine went to live with my ex-brother-in-law and  his herd of cows.

She got to spend her last years happy rather than being the only cow here.

I’m very sorry, Teresa! I know you were very fond of Maxine. It has to hurt, even though she hasn’t been living on your farm recently.

I cried, but she I am grateful she had a good life. She was happier with other cows. She had another old retired cow that she really bonded with.

I love your story, Teresa. I felt for Maxine, she has a sad look in her pictures. I’m not sure what a lot of city folk knew exactly what an ox was. Except for something we read about in nursery rhymes and children’s stories. I generally still picture in my mind a team of oxen pulling a plow.

Sorry to hear this. It was better to live out her life with company and you knew she was cared for. Good-bye Maxine.

So sorry Teresa, she was so beautiful. My youngest loves cows and yes she has tons of cow things even as an adult.

She was. She had her calf and her best friend and a big pasture. Her bff is upset with her being gone.
