Friday’s Hunt v3.26

30 Jun

Welcome back to Friday’s Hunt. I want to thank everyone who joined in last week. I had a lot of fun visiting everyone who linked up. It’s very simple. Anyone can participate. The link opens at 7pm Central time and will close Sunday at 7pm, so you have plenty of time to enter. Hopefully, you’ll be inspired to visit some of the other entries.

We are starting round four!  It’s hard to believe.  I did make a slight change.  It will still go through the alphabet for the first prompt, but there are two other prompts that will change each week.  As always, you can choose to do one or all.  If you enjoy the week’s favorite, by all means continue to add that.  If you didn’t participate this week but would like to next week the topics will be: Starts with A, sunset, and inside. I will always keep a list of the items for the coming week in my sidebar at the top. I am crazy busy with working on the farm right now, but I will make sure to visit all participants. Without further ado, here’s my interpretations for the week.

Starts with Z:  I have had a handful of “Z” goats–Zach, Zin, Zinnia, Zoe, Zoe, and Zorro.  Haley’s twins this year are Zinnia and Zorro.  I do plan on keeping Zinnia since she is such a beautiful Sam girl, and she is really becoming quite friendly, and she’s joined my MGiT Program.

Week’s Favorite:  Obviously the five new llamas are my favorites.  I am really enjoying getting to know them.

Aurora

Dessert:  I’ve shared this recipe before (in 2012), so today, I’ll just tease you with an image of my peach pie cake.  Maybe we should make dessert a permanent prompt, so I always have an excuse for dessert.  Heck. I don’t need an excuse.

Now it’s your turn!

Baby Bumps?

29 Jun

I’ve been wondering for quite a while now whether or not Odie and Maybeline are pregnant.  I know Llenny bred Odie, but I don’t know if she settled.  I had no idea with Maybeline.  He became ill so soon after they arrived, that I had no guess.  Looking at them all flopped on their sides, it really makes me wonder.

Maybeline

There are a couple of ways to tell if a llama is bred.  One is just to ignore the situation and come out to find a cria someday.  That’s not my preferred method, but it’s how I’ve been operating the last several months.  I could always do an ultrasound or blood test, but I’m not sure my vets would even do that.  The final way is to bring a guy to the girl. That’s where Ollie comes in.  He’s a young guy, but he is a guy.

Ollie

Odie put her ears back and wanted nothing to do with him.  That was her response this morning when they went out to pasture as well.  If there had been any way to avoid walking past Ollie to get to the Back Forty, she’d have gone for it.  That means, it’s most likely that Odie is going to have a cria mid-October.

When Ollie first showed up, Maybeline was all making friendly with him.  Maybeline is most likely not pregnant (just chubby).

This morning, however, she had the same reaction as Odie.  I guess I’m back to wait and see with her.

Odie was also a cranky llady when she met the new girls and Buster too.  Maybe that’s just her personality.  I’m going to still go with her being bred though.

Maybeline is a sweetie to everyone.  She was not sure about the girls and Buster, but she was okay to hang out with them by the fence.

Anyhow, I guess I’m back to wait and see.  I’ll keep observing how they react to Ollie every time they go past him.  Here’s a video of today’s reactions:

The Kids

28 Jun

With everything going on, I’ve hardly shared any of my June babies other than when they were born (or getting lost in pasture).  Here you go!

Twix and Toffee (looks like they swam the ditch instead of jumping)
