The Soap Room

20 May

I love my soap room.  I always have my soaps in there and lotion, but it also gives me the freedom to be creative and fun and you never know what all I’m going to have for sale.  I have some of my book art, and I have lots of good ideas for more creative things (if I ever have time to do them).

Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to be open on Saturdays yet this spring because of my driveway.  Seriously.  I have been afraid to take my car through it with all the rainy weather we’ve had.  I’ve been trying to get through planting season before bugging my nephew about it.

On Thursday, however, I didn’t have work because of power outages, and I figured it was too wet for the nephew to be doing anything so I gave him a call.  He had a load of rock delivered.

Then he came out with the backhoe.

By the time he left, it was amazing!  I won’t have to park my car up north and take the Ranger with its swamp tires through the driveway now (Okay, I hadn’t actually done that yet, but I was afraid I would have to if it didn’t have gravel before the additional inch or more we had on Friday and into today.)

Even better, I can open the soap room again for next Saturday.  Although I have a lot of work to do before it will be ready.  I’ve been in a soap making mode lately.

spellbound woods, cherry blossom, clean coconut and magnolia

I did plain soap and five new kinds today.  The new ones won’t be ready for sale for three weeks.

rustic woods and rum, grass smoothie, dogwood and ginger, plain, apple and sage, and Tahitian vanilla

I’ll just have to get everything put up and set things out for selling mode.  But also want to make another four or five batches of soap tomorrow, and I have to restock my insect repellent lotion bars.  I have a lot of work to do this week, but I’m excited to be back open again!

Wow, those soaps look wonderful, and the scents sound fabulous. I would like to hire your nephew for a couple of weeks!

It’s tough to find time when he’s available. I’m hoping to get the rest of the dirt work around my garage done this summer. (Cross your fingers for me.)
