Friday’s Hunt v3.19

12 May

Welcome back to Friday’s Hunt.  I want to thank everyone who joined in last week.  I had a lot of fun visiting everyone who linked up.  It’s very simple.  Anyone can participate.  The link opens at 7pm Central time and will close Sunday at 7pm, so you have plenty of time to enter.  Hopefully, you’ll be inspired to visit some of the other entries.

If you didn’t participate this week but would like to next week the topics will be:  Starts with T, Week’s Favorite, and food.   I will always keep a list of the items for the coming week in my sidebar at the top.  I am crazy busy with teaching and working on the farm right now, but I will make sure to visit all participants.  Without further ado, here’s my interpretations for the week.

Starts with S:  All the goats ever on the farm that start with S: Sage, Sage, Sal, Sallie, Sam, Sam, Sampson, Sandy, Sara, Sarah, Sasha, Scarlet, Scooby, Scott, Scout, Scout, Shaggy, Sherlock, Sherman, Shirley, Sidney, Silas, Silas, Silas, Simon, Simon, Sis, Skip, Skipper, Snap, Snape, Sofie, Sparkle, Sparrow, Special Ed, Spice, Spike, Spot, Squiggy, Squirt, Squishy, Stan, Stan, Star, Stormy, Strawberry, Sue, Sugar.

Stormy is one of my milking girls.  I found out from the vets that the withdrawal on Cydectin (what I used to worm them) has a fourteen day withdrawal on milk (17 for meat).  That’s good.  I will still probably work on freezing milk for kids to drink before I use it for lotion, but it’s good information to have.

Week’s Favorite:  Our weather has been beautiful this week.  The goats are happy to get back to their lush pasture.  That makes me happy.

Family:  I usually have goats all hanging with their family, but the kids are getting old enough that they are all off playing while their moms are eating.  So you get nine-year-old twin sisters, Stormy and Litha.  I already mentioned that Stormy is one of the girls I milk, and Litha is the only goat on the farm to have quadruplets.

Stormy and Litha

Now it’s your turn!

I’m so envious of your grass. Here it is only just starting to emerge a little bit from the brown thatched mat that it becomes over the winter. I did manage to pick some dandelion leaves for the rabbits though. I love that picture of Coral – she actually looks Coral coloured on her side!

The goats look happy out grazing that beautful green grass. That sure is a lot of “S” names, but I bet you have had quite a slew of goats coming and going…do you have all the names recorded? I would never be able to remember them all.

I do have all the names in my record keeping.

I didn’t realize that Stormy and Litha are twins. Then it surprised me that there’s such a difference in the size of their horns. Is that unusual? They are all beautiful!

Stormy’s horns are pure Saanen in their look. Litha’s show a bit more of the Boer influence.

Your grass sure looks nice. Probably when things dry a little you will cut some for hay? My favorite picture is the bottom one, such a peaceful scene. Coral needs to go on a diet, thinner goats live longer so our vet told us about dogs.
I see that you’ve had a Sue, how about a Susie now?

We will make hay off of it for next winter’s food. Coral really needs to go on a diet, but she won’t listen to me. It’s all that green grass.

Your pastures look very green and goats very happy. Thanks for hosting and have a wonderful weekend.
