Rain, Rain…

30 Apr

We’ve had rain all weekend.  The goats did get to go out and eat a bit yesterday, but they got rained on, and back they came to take shelter in the barn.

I decided to take pity on them and give them some hay.  They ate for about two seconds, and then they decided they’d rather go back out to pasture.

Even though it wasn’t raining then, the grass was wet.  It was cold and windy.  They still preferred to eat that green grass.

Lily

The kids didn’t seem too upset with their wet feet and legs.

Dove and Jinx

The llady llamas were happy to eat that hay.

Odie

Although, I’m not sure they each needed a whole bale.

Maybeline

Today, I’m not being quite so nice since they wasted half of what I fed them yesterday, but they did have a nice soft bed for the night.

I hope you’ll come back to join me for Friday’s Hunt.  I have next week’s items at the top of my side bar.

A Slight Predicament

29 Apr

I think it was Thursday when I got home from work that I decided I was going to go for a pasture walk before I did anything else.  I was glad I did because I had barely reached the top of the first hill and taken a picture of the llamas when I heard someone yelling.  It was a kid stuck.

I took off in the direction the noise was coming from and ran as long as I could and then I jogged.  I’m really getting too old for this stuff.

Princess

I expected to see Red when I popped over the hill, but it wasn’t.  It was Princess.  I know she’s not looking too happy that I stopped to take her picture, but I was seriously huffing and puffing out of breath, and it was just a couple of pictures.

Luckily, she wasn’t too bad to get unstuck, and she took off.  She didn’t even pause to say thank you.

She just hurried to rejoin the rest of the herd that had made it back to the barnyard by then.

I do love a happy ending.

Friday’s Hunt v3.17

28 Apr

Welcome back to Friday’s Hunt.  I want to thank everyone who joined in last week.  I had a lot of fun visiting everyone who linked up.  It’s very simple.  Anyone can participate.  The link opens at 7pm Central time and will close Sunday at 7pm, so you have plenty of time to enter.  Hopefully, you’ll be inspired to visit some of the other entries.

If you didn’t participate this week but would like to next week the topics will be:  Starts with R, Week’s Favorite, and window.   I will always keep a list of the items for the coming week in my sidebar at the top.  I am crazy busy with teaching and working on the farm right now, but I will make sure to visit all participants.  Without further ado, here’s my interpretations for the week.

Starts with Q:  Queenie, Quigley, Quincy and Quinn are the only Q goats I’ve had.  Here’s Bambi’s boy, Quincy.  He’s polled like his maa!

Quincy

Week’s Favorite:  I’ve been doing some photo shoots.  I’m trying to get a small portrait studio set up in my garage.  I will say, the studio lighting is killing me.  It’s like I’ve never taken a picture before, but I’m going to keep practicing!  I really can’t decide which is my favorite image, but my neighbor is my favorite model.

Evening:  Each evening I do chores on the farm.  I feed and water all the animals and gather the eggs.

Now it’s your turn!
