I think I finally figured out what was wrong with Llenny thanks to the help of the shearer, but it was too late to save him.

I will miss him.

I’m sorry you lost him, but what was it? I had llamas, remember, and lost one. I have been wondering for the last few weeks. PM me if you want to Teresa, but I would really like to know.

After talking to the shearer, I’m pretty much positive it was ulcers. I had never had the male and females together, and I attributed his change in behavior to breeding rather than health. By the time I figured it out, it was too late for the meds to help him.

He’s been ill for quite some time, so this was not unexpected. Still sad, but I rather figured this was coming.

Poor LLenny. If only we could read their minds, understand what’s going on inside them…he was a beautiful guy.

I’m so sorry! I think everyone fell in love with Llenny. I know I did. I was puzzled as to what might be the problem, but never thought it would turn out this way.

I am so sorry about Llenny. I have enjoyed the pictures you have posted, and I know how hard it is to lose a pet. I will pray for peace for you.

So sorry. I know you said you had the vet out, didn’t the doctor do any blood work or anything to test for this? 😦

    • Teresa February 19, 2017 at 8:30 pm #

It’s very difficult to diagnose. No blood test and can’t scope a llama.

Oh no….I was so hoping it wouldn’t end this way. I’m really sorry you lost him – he was so handsome and seemed so ideal for his job as a guardian. I really hope you will have some crias from him later this year. I’m also glad you were able to have his fleece processed and that you have the owl headband to remember him by.

He was very special. I will miss him. I will always treasure that headband. It’s amazing how soft his fleece is.

I am so sorry to hear this devastating news. He was such a beautiful llama and he did his job so well on the farm. I’m sure you must be so sad that he will no longer be around. I do hope at least one of the ladies will be pregnant and you will be able to have a Llemy Junior.

Aw. That’s so sad. I just saw the previous post with he and Ron together, and I forgot to ask if he was doing better (I sure was hoping that was the case). Sorry for your loss. We will all miss him, but look forward to seeing if he has offspring.
