Boys, Boys, Boys

6 Sep

Luckily, since the great fiasco of the bucks joining the whole herd earlier in the week, they have stayed where I put them.  Fionn spends a lot of time looking longingly at the girls.  That’s fine as long as he stays on his side of the fence.

The little bucks I had to put in the Love Shack and my yearling bucks are still there.  Xerxes thinks Daisy is adorable.

I feel bad that they are a bit crowded, but they leave me no choice.

Since I got them in the smaller space, I managed to get them wormed.  I have decided to eliminate some testosterone on the farm.  My big wild June boys are going to get sold this weekend (if all goes well).

My wethers are still up north.  They make me feel guilty too about having them shut off the Back Forty, but I don’t want to risk bladder stones.

In good news, the bottom that was pure clover is starting to fill in with grass.  Hopefully in another year or so it will be mostly grass and I won’t have to shut the wethers in.

Just when I thought I had everything under control, I heard the faint sound of a kid in the distance.  I took inventory and realized it was Red.  Although this is the image from the other day, he looked about the same.  It was nearly dark by the time I got his head out of the fence and we made it back to the barnyard.

He has now joined the rest of the yard kids.  Oh yeah, Gomez is going to leave the farm too.  Hopefully, my mom won’t have to come out and check to see if he’s stuck in a fence every day.

I hope Red figures it out because he’s such a sweet boy I want to use him for the petting zoo at the pumpkin patch.

I have to laugh, I don’t know how Fionn can see the girls! I suppose the nose knows.
