Big Green Tractor

23 May

My ninety-three-year-old uncle came out on Saturday with his Big Green Tractor.

Between work and weather I didn’t have things quite as ready as I wanted.  My nephews pulled the old railroad ties out of the ground where the strawberry bed used to be, but between working and weather, I never got it burned.  I also need to rip out the stone border around the herb garden and start it over or put it into the garden.

With with all those obstacles, it wasn’t easy to till.  I was standing out there trying to give my uncle hand signals as to which way to back up because he’s pretty deaf even when he isn’t in a tractor.

About half way through, he got way off and slowly got down from the tractor to see where he was.  He said he couldn’t get turned around (stiff neck) enough to see where he was going.  I mentioned trying to stand right where he needed to back to.  Of course, that’s when he told me he couldn’t see a thing because his eyes were watering.  Luckily, at ninety-three he only drives slowly because the one time he would have backed over me, I could pretty easily step out of the way.

We got it done!  Now I can at least plant the majority of the garden.  I only see one problem with this.

What a sweet helper you had! And the yard goats don’t bode well for the future of your garden!

He’s been tilling gardens all around town just for something to do. Although, he does like if you tip him with baked goods. LOL I’ll post about my solution for the yard goats later in the week. 😉

Yep, you will need a solution for the yard goat problem, but wow – your garden is tilled! It is surprising that the dirt looks so good, considering all the rain you’ve had! Wishing you the best with your garden!

We’ve actually switched to being behind on rain. We really could use a good soaking rain.

I’d be happy to drive one at my age. LOL

Yay for Uncle Robert! I’ll be interested in your solution for the yard goats! When is your last day of school?

I have to work June 2nd. Then it’s free to do farm/soap room work full time.

Wow. 93 and still driving a tractor. Now that brings us all hope. I think you have a real big problem with yard goats.

The boys aren’t that big yet. They do eat a lot though. LOL

Hello, wow kudos to your 93 year old uncle. I would like some yard goats. Happy Tuesday, enjoy your day!

Yard goats sound a lot more fun than they are. Of course, they are more fun when they are sweet snuggly things.

That’s pretty impressive…at 93!! I’m going deaf and I’m not even quite 50! 🙂 The goats think you did that just for them!

    • Teresa May 24, 2016 at 4:46 pm #

They looked a little disappointed that some of the good weeds were gone. LOL
