Love is in the Air

25 Jan

Twenty-two days after putting Fionn and the girls together, I figured everyone had to have come into heat and been bred (they have a three week heat cycle).  I hadn’t seen him with three of the girls, and I hadn’t seen Sam with Vixen, but that’s not unusual when we breed this time of year.  It’s cold, the days are short, and I’m at work.  I just hope everyone has been bred, and I’ll watch to see if they come back in heat.

I was wrong!  Sunday, Bambi and Fionn were in love.

I hope everyone else has been bred and she is my last one to kid in the summer.

In related news, Pistol is definitely bred.  My highly unreliable memory thinks she is due around February 23rd.  That’s not very far away.  I’ve added my 2016 buck/doe count to the sidebar in preparation.

I do hope you’ll consider coming back to join me for Friday’s Hunt.  The items for this week are at the top of my sidebar.

Sharing with Song-ography.  This week’s post was inspired by John Paul Young’s Love Is In the Air.  The Good. The Random. The Fun.

Oh these critters! They do have minds of their own, don’t they! Those two look so sweet together!

    • Teresa January 25, 2016 at 6:29 pm #

They certainly do. Fionn is very good at getting what he wants.

I just imagine your post without the goat picture and one could think you are talking about humans, lol !
What a nice couple they are ! Hope you get a lot of babies (I mean not you but the goats !)

No more kids for me! I do hope everyone has their kids safely. That’s all I care about.

My sis-in-law keeps goats. They seem like sweet animals. One loves to try and butt me though sometimes. 😉

They can be sweet, but they do have a mind of their own.

Oh, so cute! About your post above, I didn’t realize that the peacock’s tail keeps on growing – learned something again!

    • Teresa January 27, 2016 at 6:20 pm #

It takes them until about the age of four to be able to grow a full length tail, but they shed it each August and grow it back out over the winter.
