Cautiously Optimistic

30 Nov

When the vet was here last week, I decided to ask her about Pistol.  She’s been in the yard and recovering for almost two months since her back injury.  To look at her and watch her move, you’d never know she was ever hurt.

The vet couldn’t see why she wouldn’t be able to rejoin the herd (as long as they didn’t pick on her).  She even thought it possible that I might be able to breed Pistol again.

"You're putting me with him???"

“You’re putting me with him???”

Of course, that’s a wait and see how she does, and hopefully we’ll get Sam and Pistol kids for 2017.

In the meantime, Sam has found a willing doe.

Meg and Sam would give me pure Saanen kids, and I would love that.

However, at 11 3/4 years old, Meg is solidly retired.  Do you hear that you two?

    Hi,
Sounds like Sam needs to cozy up with Pistol.

Not this year. She needs to finish recovering first. Hopefully, she’ll be able to be put with him next year.

Wow, over 11 years old! Looking at Pistol’s face, it looks like an apt name:)

Minnie and Meg will both be 12 the first of February. 🙂 Pistol and her twin, Vinnie, certainly earned their names when they were kids.

I do hope Pistol will make a full recovery. And it would be really great if there could be Sam and Pistol babies in the future!

I am really excited at the prospect of Sam and Pistol kids, but only if she’s able.

Sadly, I could. I would prefer things to be more boring than that.
