It’s Summer!

1 Jun

Good Summer:  The official start of summer might not be for a few more weeks, but it was my last day at work for the year, so it’s my official start to summer!  I’m predicting great things for this summer because I figured out that I lost my lucky mojo.  But I’ve fixed it.  See.

I gave my lucky bamboo taller stakes.  It had just the wooden three-foot stake, and now there’s two six-foot stakes.  I don’t know what I’ll do when the silly thing hits the ceiling, but I do know I’m going to do my best to keep my lucky bamboo happy.

Random Milking:  I’m milking again.  If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that I had several sick kids last spring.  Well, Clover’s babies became ill, and I didn’t catch it soon enough for them to recover, so I had to have them euthanized over the weekend.

When I started milking Clover, Coffee decided it was time for her to get milked too.  Tonight, I weaned her boy, Xerxes, by putting him up north with Millie and Sam.

Millie is old and awfully tired.

Fun for Sam:  I thought Sam might like the healthy company his own age.  So far, they’ve only butted heads, but I’m sure they’ll be pals soon.

I hate losing any kids/goats, but it’s inevitable. I’m not sure I could have saved them if I’d noticed it sooner. Horrible illness.

I guess that’s what happens to lucky bamboo when you put it in dirt. LOL Today was a teacher work day for me. Now the real farm work gets done.

It’s all a part of farming, but it’s the part I don’t like. Thanks, Pat.

Coffee and Xerxes have pretty facial markings. Sorry to hear you lost some kids this year.

He does look like his mom even though they have the different coloring. Thank you. I never like loosing kids, but it is an inevitable part of raising animals.

I’ve never seen a lucky bamboo get this tall! Sorry about the kids you lost but hey! Now your luck will change for the better. Happy summer vacation from work. Ha! Your work is never done, but at least you LOVE your summer jobs.

I’m guessing it’s what happens when you actually put your lucky bamboo in dirt. LOL I do LOVE farming. Hopefully, I’ll be doing it full time before long.
