I always do my laundry on Sunday. Well, this Sunday, it was a bit different.
I bought a clothesline and put it up. We used to always dry our clothes on the line when I was growing up, but my gravel road made me think I’d have muddy clothes before they were dry. I decided to try it anyhow.
It was nice today, but I thought I might have my clothes blown off the line as windy as it was.
So far, I like my new clothesline.
Sharing with Macro Monday, I Heart Macro, and Shadow Shot Sunday. I’m also going to share this with Song-ography where this week’s song is Automatic by Miranda Lambert.
we used to dry ours on lines, too. i’ve never done it here. when my sis visits, she hangs clothes on hangers off the trees. 🙂
I like the way your sister thinks! 🙂
It was way too windy and dusty back in New Mexico to make line drying practical, and here in the Pacific Northwest, the random rain showers also make it impractical! Go figure! (Visiting from I Heart Macro. I have a macro link up on Mondays now as well, if you’d like to join, it’s at http://www.allthevs.com)
I’m not sure I’ll be able to do it when we get dry this summer, but I’m going to use it whenever I can!
I also hung out clothes today. They dried very nicely! Glad you got yourself a clothesline! 🙂
Me too. I’m hoping the Sunday traffic won’t be as heavy and it won’t be as dusty.
i love that smell which only fresh air can do 🙂
It is a wonderful smell!
Love the fresh smell of line-dried clothes.
I agree. Nothing better.
Oh my gosh, you had wind like we did!
It was very windy. Fairly cool too.
I love the smell of laundry dried on the line, especially sheets! Scratch bath towels dry better, too, in my opinion. Hopefully you didn’t lose anything from the wind! 🙂
It was so windy I was afraid to try the sheets on it, but next weekend I’m hoping the sheets will go out there. Didn’t lose anything though!
Great series Teresa, nothing like fresh air to bring spring into the house! Thanks so much for sharing the love up-close with I Heart Macro ♥
Thank you, Laura. It is a wonderful scent!
When I first started reading this, I had visions of goats getting out, and pulling things off the line! I haven’t hung clothes out for over 20 years…no place here to do it. And so many birds flying around, I wouldn’t enjoy their “droppings” on my clean items! But that fresh air scent can’t be beat!
My goats pretty well behaved. They have the Back Forty, so there’s no need to come eat my laundry. 🙂
That’s one thing I miss about living at home with my parents when I was younger, we always used a clothesline, except in bad weather.
I’m going to enjoy it every weekend that I can. Don’t know how it will work when we get dray and really dusty though.
How lovely!
Thanks, Kim.
Clothes drying on the line is a thing of the past for most folks. Tom The Backroads Traveller
It is, but I find myself looking forward to doing laundry this weekend in hopes of hanging them out again.
You cannot beat hanging washing outside to dry.
I agree! I’m looking forward to it all summer!
That first shot is stunning! Love the bright sun shining down on the laundry, great angle and perspective too! Thanks for sharing at Song-ography.
Thanks for hosting each week!
Wonderful post! I like clothes in the wind and these wooden clothespins very much!!!
It really does seem to speak of simple times and a better way of life.
It’s great to line dry your clothes, especially sheets but I don’t dare because I’m terrified of bees and hornets and don’t you know I used to always get one or two on the clothes when I brought them in. LOL
Well, now you’ve given me something to worry about. Don’t think we ever had that problem when I was growing up. Just had to get them off the line before the little black bugs got in them.
I haven’t had a clothes line in years. Not such a good idea when attracting birds to one’s yard. I do miss it at times.
That’s true, but I don’t have near as many birds in the summer. I’m horrible at remembering to fill them in the summer. Which reminds me, I haven’t gotten those summer feeders set up.
