I told you I’ve heard and seen several pheasants around my property, but I hadn’t had a chance to get a picture. Well, last night, I glanced out the living room window and saw a rooster standing in my yard.
I managed to get a couple of pictures.
Then a vehicle came by and scared him away.
I’ll have to keep a close eye out. Maybe he’ll be back in the yard when it’s not so dark.

Very cool-looking bird. The last strange bird sighted around here was our neighbor’s moulting peacock–a sad sight! ;_)
Yes, those boys without their tales do look pretty odd. We are finally getting our pheasant population back up. It was really low for a few years.
Oh, yes! Pheasants are so beautiful! I grew up in an area where they were common. I can forget the time when our small mamma cat tried to catch an adult male! He was bigger than she was, and after much ruckus and squawking, he got away!
My sister’s cat tried that once too. He never did get the pheasant!
oh, that’s awesome!
I’m hoping for better pictures yet, but I’m just happy to hear and see them around again.
How neat you got your Pheasant shot and a fence along with him. He’s a handsome bird.
They really are striking. I thought it was great he was right in front of the fence!
He’s a beauty. I’d love to see one in person.
They are beautiful!
In that last shot the Pheasant looks like it is taking off like a rocket.
He really did. I was amazed to see him going straight up like that.
A pheasant on your property ! Could never happen to me but I have seen them in parks. They are such beautiful birds !
Well, I have a lot of open spaces and deep ditches. They have lots of good sheltered areas here.
Cool sighting! Are they escapees? Maybe they plan on staying at your place. Have a happy day and weekend ahead!
Just wild pheasants.
Great capture of the pheasant taking off.
Thanks. I had hoped he’d stick around for a longer shoot, but I was amazed to see him take off straight up.
Lovely bird. Never seen one before, so thanks.
I always enjoy seeing pheasants. Their population had declined, but I’ve seen more of them again this year. Glad to have them back!
Nice captures!
Thanks, Patti.
