I Gave In

21 Mar

I couldn’t stand seeing Jules all begging and sad to be shut in the house, so, despite losing a life in the oak tree fiasco, I let her out today.

Luckily, it was a lounging on the deck hoping a bird flew right into her eager little paws kind of day.

black & white catThat did not happen, but I did notice that the male house finches are getting their breeding colors!  That has to mean spring.

I also saw a junco in pasture, however, which usually means winter.

JuncoI guess that’s spring in Iowa!

Sharing with Bird d’Pot, SOOC Sunday, and Shadow Shot Sunday.

be safe, jules! be safe, birdies (from jules). 🙂

She doesn’t have the patience to actually catch a bird. She just tries running into the whole mess of them.

Always a little of winter, a little of spring! 🙂 Sweet cat…glad the birds stay away! 🙂

That’s the way it is this time of year.

Those little house finches are so pretty! I’ve been hearing lots of singing outside the windows this weekend and it sure makes spring seem like a reality! 🙂

It’s been nice to hear the birds singing again.

Jules has Mommy wrapped around his beautiful body! Glad he’s content for now! Loving the birds now too; great photos! 🙂

Yes, Jules does have me spoiled. She’s very good at getting what she wants.

Ahh she loves it so !!!!!

    • Teresa March 23, 2015 at 2:11 pm #

She does enjoy being outside. She just better stay away from tall trees.

I hadn’t seen juncos here for a couple weeks, then one turned up yesterday. Maybe he was traveling with a different crowd. Jules probably had enough excitement the other day to last awhile.

I saw a couple out in pasture again today, but it’s still awfully early in spring.

One day, Spring…turn around and you could have another dose of winter before the weather settles. Both plumages and bird species are great.

Great photos….sweet kitty [cats rule in our house]

Thanks for adding your link to this post for the weekend at I’d Rather B Birdin’!!!

Thanks for hosting each week, Anni! The cats are pretty much in charge around here too.

Jules probably just wanted to be where you were! My cat is too chicken to go out, but she’s been a house cat for 8 years.

    • Teresa March 23, 2015 at 2:13 pm #

Jules is a funny girl. She likes it outside, but she’s still kind of a chicken. Hopefully, she decides tall trees are not a good thing.

It is! I’m very glad of it.

We had a dip in temperatures last night and are -8c at the moment… but hopefully Spring will be back in a day or two!
Hopefully Jules stays away from the tree this time. 🙂

That’s the way the weather goes this time of year. At least we know it won’t last long.

It sure is encouraging that the male birds are beginning to become their most handsome selves. 😉

    • Teresa March 23, 2015 at 2:14 pm #

It was nice to see that color at the feeders.

I surely hope Jules stays out of that tree! The house finches are so lovely! Ignore the Junco – it’s really spring!! Great pictures!

    • Teresa March 23, 2015 at 2:15 pm #

I do hope she’s learned her lesson about tall trees. I do not want to do that again (even if I wasn’t even home for it).

  13. Pat March 22, 2015 at 4:56 pm #

    Hope Jules learned a lesson.

Ah, your cats are amazing, and now we are introduced to Jules. What is it about cats that they cannot be scared straight to know why they are not to be let out. Naturally their feline wiles seem to win us over…lovely birds – is that why Jules wanted to go outside?

    • Teresa March 23, 2015 at 2:16 pm #

Jules does like to try to catch birds. She’s not very patient about it though.
