Thank Goatness it’s Friday

13 Mar

That means time for Random 5 Friday.  First of all, thanks to all the well wishes for Sallie and her kids.  We’re still waiting.  It’s not uncommon for them to appear to be in labor, especially when there is a front that goes through.  It was a false alarm though.  We continue to check her frequently.  I’m sure she’d prefer to avoid the actual physical exam I’ve subjected her to a few times, but I have to know if her cervix is closed or if it’s open and she’s ready to deliver.  I’m watching her especially closely because of the problems she’s had in the last couple of years.  Hopefully, this time her kids will arrive safely and healthy and she’ll be able to feed them.

I’m loving the longer days!  I get to go out to pasture with the goats in the evening.  They seem to be enjoying the longer days too.

I can certainly tell I’m out of shape from the winter.  My lack of exercising started last July with my foot surgery.  I’m really enjoying my walks, but I’m really looking forward to even longer walks and not feeling like I’ve run a marathon afterwards.

The warm weather and sunshine means our snow is virtually all gone.  We’re almost past mud season too.  I actually wore shoes instead of rubber boots to do chores tonight.

My camera came back from being fixed after it came back broken from its cleaning.  It works now.  I’m happy.  Although, I think I’ll continue using the old one outside through the kidding season.

I’m also sharing with Skywatch Friday, Camera Critters, Saturday’s Critters, and Weekly Top Shot.

Teresa, what kind of camera do you use, and how long a lens? Your pictures are so beautiful!

    • Teresa March 13, 2015 at 7:44 pm #

My old one that took all of these is a Nikon D3100. The lens is a 55-300.

Well, I’ll say this for Sallie – she certainly looks well rounded!! Gracious!
I’m glad you got your new camera back in good shape this time. How “old” is your old one?
    Have a great weekend!

    • Teresa March 13, 2015 at 8:15 pm #

My old one isn’t horribly old. Probably five or six years.

The goats are looking so well. Glad the snow and mud have nearly all gone. Won ‘t be too long before the kids will come. Have a lovely weekend.

Thanks, Margaret. We’re waiting very impatiently for Sallie’s kids.

Sallie with her round belly looks already like a proud mother ! And Bambi looks as if she smells spring ! (That’s what I do to, but without success !)

    • Teresa March 14, 2015 at 10:01 am #

Sallie certainly should be proud of herself. She’s a good mom. We just need to get them here safely. Bambi (and everyone) was really enjoying the weather.

I do hope Sallie delivers her kids without trouble this time. She sure LOOKS ready. :)) Lucky you to be past the mud stage. We’re still into melting snow here. But at least there’s no new snow in our near future. (I hope.) I don’t mind winter but this in between stuff is sooo messy.

    • Teresa March 14, 2015 at 10:02 am #

I’m sure we’ll get muddy in April when we get our spring rains, but I’m hoping we stay dry through the kidding season at the end of the month. Hope your mud season is short.

She’s not happy with me because I have her shut in a pen now. It’s much easier to keep an eye on her that way though.

Poor Sallie! I hope she has a successful delivery soon. Glad your foot has healed from the surgery and you are getting back into walking. You must need to walk a lot, owning the farm!

    • Teresa March 15, 2015 at 10:59 am #

My need to walk comes when I’m checking goats (especially kids) out in pasture. That will be coming soon! I need to get in shape for that right now.

  20. pattisj March 19, 2015 at 5:23 pm #
