Old Man Winter

25 Feb

Old Man Winter showed up this morning, and we had an early out from school.  I’m glad I got home in plenty of time before the roads got too bad.  The goats were all in the barn.

Some have decided to curl up and take a nap while they wait for the storm to end.

Others are enjoying some quality family time.

We dont’ have too much snow yet, but it’s still coming down.  The fence post is just slightly covered.

Same with the African goose.

If we get a lot, I won’t be able to see the Embden geese with their orange bills tucked in.

Hopefully, it won’t be too bad, but they’re predicting another storm for this weekend.

Sharing with Alphabe-Thursday where the letter is O.  O is for Old Man Winter.  I’m also sharing with Good Fences.

I’m very grateful for those days they let us out early. I can’t imagine not being able to get home to the animals.

If only all we had to do in the snow was curl up and hang out with family! Glad you’re home, and hope it doesn’t last long! (I also hope it doesn’t mean that it’s headed this way!!)

They do have it pretty rough. LOL

How smart of the goats to take cover! Glad you got to leave school early to avoid the REALLY bad roads.

    • Teresa February 25, 2015 at 5:37 pm #

The goats are very smart about staying inside when the weather is bad. Just try to drag them out of that barn.

I certainly don’t want even a fourth as much as Massachusetts has had this winter!

  5. Anne February 25, 2015 at 5:45 pm #

Glad you are safe. I am waiting on my honey to get home. I Hate driving in this stuff and since we have one car he drove to the bus. Now he is stuck waiting, waiting, waiting on the bus to show up. This snow is heavy and very wet. It has been coming down for nearly three hours and covered all the hard shoveling I did yesterday when it was 40 outside! LOL! Those goats are smart, I took a cat nap a while ago. Tired from all the elements Be safe and enjoy the warmth of your home and make some soup! Hugs, Anne

    I love that first shot.

    • Teresa February 25, 2015 at 6:04 pm #

Thanks. I usually have at least one goat standing there wishing for better weather when it snows.

I love all the pictures, but the one looking out is so precious! Mom; please make it quit! Ha! Glad you got out early. Heard we were suppose to get more this weekend too. Ugh! Stay warm & safe!

Thanks. At least we can have a pretty picture with all the cold and snow.

I see one of the geese had the wit to come inside with the goats. Glad you go home safe, perhaps there wil be no school tomorrow. Stay warm.

There were a few more in back too. Most just tuck their beaks in and ride it out.

It seems like the never ending winter. I love all your critters. The family of goats is my favorite… Be safe and have a happy day!

    • Teresa February 26, 2015 at 8:01 am #

Thanks. Stormy and her girls are always ready to pose for a picture, and they are always together! Goats are very family oriented.

The goat and goose peeking out through the falling snow is a priceless shot! The geese all hunkered down should be warm enough with all their fluffy feathers. I’m glad, too, that you got to get home early. – We’re getting a little much-needed rain this morning and are supposed to get even more tomorrow. I hope the weather prognosticators are right!!

    • Teresa February 26, 2015 at 9:35 am #

Hope you get your rain! I think I’m actually looking forward to mud instead of frozen ground.

Thanks. We didn’t get as much snow as predicted, but we’re horribly cold now.

    • Teresa February 26, 2015 at 10:03 am #

We didn’t end up getting very much, but we have a couple of more storms in the seven-day forecast. Hope you get some rain.

From the 40’s to the teens… with snow and wind. No fun! Our geese hung outside too. Down is a great insulator. 🙂

    • Teresa February 26, 2015 at 12:12 pm #

Good to hear from you! The geese amaze me with the weather they stay out in.

  16. pattisj February 26, 2015 at 2:14 pm #

I’m glad you were able to get home early. We got 5″ last night. Your geese are so pretty. It’s heartwarming to see the goat families huddled together.

    • Teresa February 26, 2015 at 2:16 pm #

I love that the goats are so family oriented. They really do enjoy those relationships. I love the geese too!

What fabulous photos. Old Man Winter is an insistent guest isn’t he?! Stay warm and hold the thought that Spring is coming.

    • Teresa February 26, 2015 at 6:32 pm #

And he might have overstayed his welcom. Just sayin’.

Thanks, Laurie. I do work hard to try and continue improving my photography. I’ll be glad when my new camera gets back from its annual cleaning.
