Summer is Here Scavenger Hunt

8 Jun

Summer’s arrived.  I’m done teaching for the year, so I’ve hung up my old denim bag.  I’ll bid it farewell until August.

I kicked off the summer by lighting a fire Friday evening and sitting outside with a glass of wine.

It was a perfect night to sit there and watch the flames dance.

Fire collage

I have plenty of fuel for the fire with the limbs that fall from my oak trees.  Of course, this one is still across the sidewalk waiting to be cut into more useable lengths.

Snickers is trying to help me change my perspective into a slower more relaxed pace by being a good role model.

I might have to try that napping twenty hours a day thing.  Maybe not.  I have soap to make and my yard needs mowed again.

hallelujah for end of school year! a nice way to welcome it with a fire in the fire pit, too. i have lots of those lengths of firewood that need to be cut into usable pieces with the chain saw. 🙂

I’m lucky. I’ve only lost that limb, and it was broken off three years ago. It’s already cured and ready to burn!

The fire in the pit and a glass of wine is a nice way to celebrate the end of the school year.. We have lots of branches sitting around too, from this past winters ice storms.. Enjoy your summer break and have a happy week!

Thanks, Eileen. I do plan on having a great summer!

Yay for the end of the school year! Love the bag…and love sitting by a fire!

    • Teresa June 8, 2014 at 8:00 pm #

It was the first fire I’d had in quite a long time. It was nice.

Cats do have the art of relaxation purr-fected. Nice fire pit. That’s a good-size limb you have there, glad it didn’t damage anything. I wonder who looks forward to summer vacation more–students or teachers.

    • Teresa June 8, 2014 at 8:00 pm #

In my case, I’m sure it’s me. 😉

There is never a bad time to sit by the light of a fire. Well done.

    • Teresa June 8, 2014 at 8:00 pm #

I have to agree! Maybe I should try it again this evening.

Its been raining non stop here so mowing will be happening as soon as it dries out, after it kills all my vegetable plants.

    • Teresa June 8, 2014 at 8:01 pm #

I hope your veggies make it.

Snickers plays the part of a feline quite well. Unless he is not really acting 🙂
I like the denim bag, with pockets galore for the myriad teaching aids a teacher will carry for many an educational purpose…the flames are a like a ballet, crackiling as if they are in motion. A work of art!l

    • Teresa June 8, 2014 at 8:02 pm #

Thanks. There’s nothing like a fire for relaxing.

You know, just follow Snicker’s lead and you’ll be okay. I love your fire. I hope that you have a good rest after a year of teaching. Great post, I love all your pics. Thank you for sharing them.

    • Teresa June 8, 2014 at 8:32 pm #

Thanks so much, Yogi. I will work a lot this summer, but it will all be on the farm.

Love your denim bag! They’re always so handy, and yours is beautifully decorated! Did you make it?? Snickers is such a beautiful kitty. He looks so regal. Your pictures painted a nice story!

My mom and sister made the bag for me. I love it!

Never underestimate the joy of a teacher when the summer break comes around! Been there ( almost 20 times) and I know the feeling!

    Hi Teresa,

It seems yards always need mowing!

Isn’t it fun finding blues to share? Thanks for playing today.

    Happy Blue Monday!

After a year of t eaching, you need a break and a nap.

    • Teresa June 9, 2014 at 6:00 pm #

Definitely! I’m not much of a napper though.

The blue jeans bag looks really practical. Congratulations on the end of the school year and getting to relax some like your cat, the gardening season is underway for me so I won’t be doing much of that until winter, farmer’s vacation.

    • Teresa June 9, 2014 at 8:39 pm #

Sadly I’m not having a garden this year. That will certainly keep you busy.

I have piles of denim waiting to be crafted. I love the purse. I need to make one for the summer activities with the grand kids. The fire looks inviting even though it is warm now.

    • Teresa June 10, 2014 at 7:25 am #

We’ve still had cool evenings, so it was nice.

Hi! Snickers looks like my cat Tiger a/k/a Mr. Kitty and Mr. Thompkins and an assortment of other silly names. Your kitty is beautifully photogenic and cats have the right idea about enjoying life. Thanks for sharing and I love your bag. Sweet!

    • Teresa June 11, 2014 at 9:29 pm #

Cats do know how to enjoy life.
