As I was getting ready for this week’s scavenger hunt, I was busily preparing my pictures, when I realized I was using last week’s list. I totally missed a week of Scavenger Hunt Sunday due to all the kids. Well, I’m happy to say that my house is livestock free for the first time since January 8th. Yipee!!!!!! And now, on to this week’s scavenger hunt: bad habit, on the road, on the shelf, yum, and what is it.
On the Shelf: With no more critters in the kitchen, I might be able to make soap again. I still have plenty on my shelf to fill orders through the on-line market, but there are several fragrances that are getting a bit low. I need to stock up before the start of the farmer’s market season.
Yum: I also decided to actually bake from scratch. I made these yummy stuffed sandwiches. One is a honey mustard chicken and the other is Philly beef and swiss. Of course mine is made with vegetarian meatless chicken and beef. The original recipe is here (easy to adapt to real meat).
What is it: I am going to be shooting another wedding in August. I love the photography, and I’d love to do more portrait photography, so I made the giant leap and purchased a camera more suited to that purpose. It’s a D7100. I’ve only had the chance to take a couple of shots with it, but I think I’m really going to love it.
On the Road: I was walking on the road and looked back to my pasture and realized that we’re still brown. I’m grateful for the warmer weather, but I was hoping it would really make the grass turn green. Hopefully with the rain in our forecast, we’ll start to look more springlike.
Bad Habit: If you ask my family some people , they might tell you that goats are a bad habit of mine. I disagree, but I also wanted to share pictures of some of the kids that I’ve not mentioned much because of the overwhelming number of bottle kids. This adorable little lady belongs to Blaze.
This is one of Mary’s bucks.
I will hopefully have more time now to share the healthy, happy kids. I’m also trying to get caught up visiting other blogs.
Sharing with Scavenger Hunt Sunday, Mosaic Monday, Blue Monday and Monday Mellow Yellows.
I so enjoy your Scavenger Hunts — congratulations on your newly acquired D7100.
Thanks, Becca. You should really join the scavenger hunts. They are fun.
That’s eye-appealing bread wrapped around your sandwich. Yum. Nice camera. Will Blaze’s little one keep the color patterns she now wears? Love her dark legs. Handsome buck.
There’s a link to the recipe in the post (but I used all white flour in this batch). She will keep her markings, but I’m guessing the silver color will change to a tan. That’s what her mom and aunt did.
I missed the link, thanks for letting me know.
Your sandwich looks delicious. I love your cute kids. Enjoy your new week ahead!
Thanks, Eileen. I like this sandwich because it’s so easy to freeze and take to work for lunches.
congrats on the new camera! and a farm-animal free kitchen!
It’s sad, but I think I’m more excited about the livestock free kitchen than the new camera.
You did a great job on this week’s scavengings even with being behind! Your soap looks lovely, beautiful colors. All the kids you have shared are just so cute. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, Diane. It took a bit of quick thinking (and a walk down the road) to do this week’s hunt.
While here n Aruba, the wifi stinks…things time out a lot!!! I am going to be so far behind when I get home in two weeks!!!!
I do think I wouldn’t worry about blogging if I were in Aruba. 😉
That’s a long time having kids in the kitchen and I’m happy they’re healthy enough to go out with the rest of the group.
The new camera sounds like it will take you places. I’ve always had Canon but our daughter that has used both much prefers Nikon.
It was only two weeks with the goats (but there were a lot of them). Before that is was the kitchen chicken. I’m just thrilled everyone is back where they belong. I’ve always been a Nikon person.
Yep, I’d say your bad habit was that kitchen chicken!!!HA!
Love the ‘appaloosa’ kid (Blaze’s darling)
Take care…looks like you’re making up for lost time with the baking from scratch..those loaves look yummy!
peace
Thanks. I am much happier with all the livestock outside. I’m still reclaiming the house, but I’m getting there!
I am truly in love with that little doe!
the Kids are sooo cute! But you have a talent not everyone (like moi) has:). Your soaps are looking so good!
Thanks. I have a lot of fun making the soaps. 🙂
Your kids are so cute! I will have to try the sandwich. It looks like they would be great travel food. I get so tired of fast food. Your soaps are so pretty.
Thanks. I made these sandwiches for the hired men when we were baling hay. It worked great!
So finally you have your kitchen back 🙂
Cute babies and so yummy food.
It’s so nice to take the house back from the livestock!
HI Theresa I am so glad the kitchen is’kid’ free and you have more time to enjoy all of the kids now. I hope you have lots of fun and photos with your new camera.
Thanks, Margaret. It is nice.
best wishes with your wedding photography, my my that sandwich loaf looks yummy; have a nice Monday
much love…
Thanks, Gillena. I have a lot to learn about the new camera before the wedding!
Those sammies looks scrumptious!
Thanks. They’re great to freeze for a quick delicious meal.
Those sandwiches look amazing! I’ll take a veggie one please! 🙂
Both are vegetarian. 🙂
Hi Teresa,
Thanks for sharing a shot of your blue soap. You are a multi-talented lady.
I’m looking forward to reading your comment on my post. Please come back.
Have a Happy Blue Monday!
Thanks, Sally. It’s fun to make the soaps.
Those stuffed sandwiches look delicious and the soap must smell wonderful.
Beautiful, healthy baby goats – not to be overlooked.
Thanks, Pat. I’m grateful for those goats that haven’t needed my attention.
Awww, Blaze’s little sweet is polka-dotted! Those sandwiches sure look good — I think I’d have to go with the Philly steak and swiss… I haven’t had one of those in forever!
Blaze’s girl is definitely the beauty queen out here.
I like the colors in your soap–I’ve been wanting to make my own for some time now. Your baby goats are adorable.
Thanks, Chairty. I warn you that soap making is addictive.
Very funny pictures, I love the colors of these soaps!
Thanks. 🙂
i am curious as to how a GOAT can be a “bad habit”? that is just plain silly. you are keeping something alive & well. i say those “folks” are just plain silly. ( :
oops … i said that already … but it’s true!! ha. ha!!
I think they mean all the time and money spent on my goats is a waste. I might have taken liberties with the bad habit so I could include the picture. They’d really use words like “dumb”.
It’s so lovely to see your goats and kids again Teresa!
You’ve had a busy time and now your kitchen will feel quite empty – you might get lonely!
Those loaves look amazing and I will follow your link for the recipe – thank you!
Hugs
Shane
I still have animal company outside, so I won’t be lonely, but it is nice to have my kitchen back!
Your response to the scavenger hunt is so intriguing. You have time to cook (i don’t like to cook) and make soaps too? You really are amazing. Those soaps look delightful.
I’m hoping to get the soaps made now that the kitchen is livestock free.
