Fall

15 Oct

We’re really past the prime of fall’s beauty now, but I think our rain over the weekend was wonderful!  My nephew said that we were about sixteen inches down in rain for the year, which means a horrible next year if we don’t get rain before the ground freezes.  We had about two inches over the weekend!

The geese just saw it as giving them lots of little water dishes to drink out of and play in.  They also like when I throw the soggy dog food out to them.

I loved it and the geese loved it, but I don’t think the goats appreciated the mud.

Pebbles

I hope they have to deal with even more muddy days this fall.

I’m afraid we’re past the most beautiful fall colors, but I’m going to enjoy them as long as I can!

We are late with fall ! not temperature wise, it’s cold, grey and rainy but the trees are still green ! Quiet unusual !

It does seem the weather around the whole world is all mixed up. I’m hoping we have a more normal weather pattern very soon.

They have another chance in the forecast for this week, but I’m not sure how much. Of course, I’m happy for every drop right now.

WOW! Those are beautiful fall pictures. I think the second one may be my favorite. It looks so mystical. Magical. Gorgeous!

    • Teresa October 15, 2012 at 4:18 pm #

Thanks. It has been really beautiful this fall. 🙂

Great photos! My chickens go absolutely crazy when they get soggy dog food! So funny to see that ducks like it, too.

    • Teresa October 15, 2012 at 4:18 pm #

It must be a bird thing! The dog is just glad I don’t make her eat it. 🙂

I hope you get even more rain, even though you may have to buy boots for those dainty little goat feet.

    • Teresa October 15, 2012 at 6:24 pm #

They can deal with the mud if we get rain. I’m just hoping for more. 🙂

The fall colors always disappear way too quickly for my liking. But you’ve captured some nice shots! Down 16″…wow! I hope too, that you get lots of mud this fall, and maybe some snow this winter will help!

    • Teresa October 15, 2012 at 6:24 pm #

I know it’s the worst year for drought. They’ve called it even worse than the dust bowl depending on what stats you’re looking at.

Wow – Love those trees, they scream fall! Its weird to think about people having a shortage of rain – we have plenty if you want some of ours 🙂 Your goats are always so cute!!!

    • Teresa October 15, 2012 at 6:25 pm #

We’d be happy to take any rain you want to get rid of! It really has been a beautiful fall.

Beautiful captures! I especially love the one of the leaves on the step.

    • Teresa October 15, 2012 at 9:17 pm #

Thanks. It has been an exceptionally beautiful fall, or I’m just noticing it more this year.

  12. Sharon Qualls October 15, 2012 at 9:01 pm #

Pebbles and whoever don’t look happy on that cement slab. Glad you got some rain, wish for your sake it had been more.
We’re getting toward the dreary time of year – soon as all the leaves fall.

    • Teresa October 15, 2012 at 9:18 pm #

The short days do make me awfully dreary. This year, however, I’m hoping for a long cold winter’s nap for Mother Nature. We truly need it.

  13. Elaine October 15, 2012 at 9:36 pm #

Such lovely fall leaves and colors!

    • Teresa October 15, 2012 at 9:38 pm #

The leaves are all falling from the trees now. It’s starting to look pretty bare.

  14. momto8blog October 15, 2012 at 10:48 pm #

such pretty pictures! we have less red here in Pa because of the low rainfall.

    • Teresa October 16, 2012 at 6:42 am #

Most of our color was in yellow as well this year. I have just a few of these red leaves.

Love this collection! I like the colors, and the white vignette added in the third photo. Poor Pebbles! Goats have such sweet faces! 🙂

    • Teresa October 16, 2012 at 6:44 am #

The goats really are sweet, but they do not like mud!

I’m loving the rainy weather, cool days and fall scenery. Love your goat – so cute standing up on the block to stay out of the mud!

    • Teresa October 16, 2012 at 10:27 am #

They do anything to try and stay out of the mud. The will stand with their front feet in the food pans too.

  18. Stillmary October 16, 2012 at 12:20 pm #

With as gorgeous as these pictures are, I can’t imagine what you’d have gotten if the colors had been at their peak. And typically I love animal shots the most this week, although I still love the animal shots, the first three are my faves especially the third one.

    • Teresa October 16, 2012 at 1:39 pm #

I had so many colorful trees a couple of weeks ago. There are just very few left. Nothing to artistic and creative about the goats avoiding the mud. 🙂

  19. 4joy October 16, 2012 at 2:27 pm #

great fall shots, and I love the puddle-shy goat!

    • Teresa October 16, 2012 at 2:39 pm #

Thanks. The goats do not like mud at all!

  20. Stacia October 16, 2012 at 4:16 pm #

Love that finicky Pebbles! She and I are a lot alike, I can tell. =>

    • Teresa October 16, 2012 at 4:21 pm #

That’s pretty much a trait shared by all the goats! I can’t blame them either. 🙂

  21. Candy C. October 16, 2012 at 7:22 pm #

Beautiful fall foliage! My chickens really appreciate wet dog food too, you are right, must be a bird thing. Love that picture of Pebbles, she is SUCH a goat!! 🙂

    • Teresa October 16, 2012 at 7:29 pm #

They will fight over that slab of concrete when it’s really muddy. They do like to stay clean and dry. 🙂
