When I was in the pasture waiting for Norman to help me bring Maxine and her calf to the barn, I had some time to spend enjoying the beauty of the dandelions.

They are everywhere right now.

Yep, all four Canada geese are still living out in the pasture surrounded by all those cottony seed balls.

There was a lot of evening sunlight coming over the hill, and it really was pretty.

It was nice to lay down on the soft green grass and enjoy the beauty (but I did choose my spot carefully with all the geese and cattle out there).

Hi Teresa, you have made the lowly dandelion a thing of beauty with your photography skills! I laughed when you said you “chose your spot to lie down carefully” – those Canadian geese leave a lot of deposits! xo

    • Teresa April 21, 2012 at 5:07 pm #

Thank you for such high praise. It’s very wise in the pasture to step carefully and lay down even more carefully. πŸ™‚

Beautiful shot. Isn’t nature stunning? I love it when people appreciate the little things life has to offer.

The dandelions are just popping out now, so I was wandering around our yard with a little hand sprayer. πŸ˜‰ The church across the street seems to be growing a heavy crop of the yellow blossoms….as they do every year.

    • Teresa April 21, 2012 at 6:23 pm #

I don’t think I’ve ever outgrown my childlike enjoyment of those bright yellow flowers and their puffy seed heads. My little goat boy was enjoying them for a snack too. πŸ™‚

Love the dandelions and the geese in the field! So peaceful and such a lovely look at a spring day! Terrific captures! Thanks for sharing the beauty! Thank you for visiting my blog and for your comment, Teresa! Always appreciated! Hope your weekend is going well!

My pleasure. I’m glad you stopped by. It really is nice and peaceful out there.

I love the backlit dandelion puffs! How fun that the geese are still hangin’ out! πŸ™‚

    • Teresa April 21, 2012 at 8:13 pm #

They seem to have made themselves quite at home. I heard them out there today, but I didn’t go back.

Beautiful captures. The dandelions are everywhere here, too. Our front field is blanketed. I do not remember a year quite like this for dandies. Guess the weird winter we had changed the lives of all flowers and weeds,

    • Teresa April 21, 2012 at 9:48 pm #

They really are thick this year. At least it was beautiful.

  10. Jandante April 21, 2012 at 10:27 pm #

Wonderful photos, I love it when people notice the normally inconsequential details around them. Lovely shadows in your pics.

    • Teresa April 21, 2012 at 10:28 pm #

Thanks! I love that late evening sunlight for photography.

  11. Rainfield M Penang April 21, 2012 at 10:29 pm #

I cannot find any dandelions here.

I am eager to snap this classical look of dandelions whenever possible.

    You make me feeling jealous.

    • Teresa April 21, 2012 at 10:30 pm #

I’d never thought someone would be jealous of my dandelions! πŸ™‚ Thanks for stopping by.

  14. Lighthousegal April 22, 2012 at 12:37 am #

The dandelions are beginning to crop up in our back yard too. My husband hates them. They may be a nuisance in the yard, but make very interesting photos. As your photos show.
    Happy Sunday!

    • Teresa April 22, 2012 at 7:43 am #

I guess I look at them through the eyes of a kid. They are so cheerful!

  15. Roxanne Reinhart April 22, 2012 at 1:45 am #

    • Teresa April 22, 2012 at 7:44 am #

Thanks. I love being out in the pasture and taking pictures at that time in the evening.

Hi there – love the back light on the seed heads – I think it should be mandatory for kids to have blown away the seeds on at least 200 dandelion heads before they can leave school!

    • Teresa April 22, 2012 at 7:45 am #

I agree! I think adults should take the time to do so also!

  17. Linda April 22, 2012 at 6:01 am #

I did a photo shoot this weekend for baby and we did some of them in the weeds…and dandelions. They are so pretty, even if they are a nuisance! Loved that field of them!

    • Teresa April 22, 2012 at 7:45 am #

Dandelions are the perfect color splash for a kid’s picture!

  18. Cheryl @ Deckside April 22, 2012 at 6:39 am #

Glad you looked before laying down!

I love it when the Canadian Geese linger for a bit. My favorite dandelion is the third from the bottom. It almost looks like the sun landed in your pasture.

    • Teresa April 22, 2012 at 7:46 am #

That’s the advantage of hills~you can get the sun low on the horizon while it’s still pretty light.

  19. Pat April 22, 2012 at 6:40 am #

    Such lovely captures!

    • Teresa April 22, 2012 at 7:46 am #

Thanks! It was fun to spend time capturing the dandelions while I waited.

I love Your Sunday Best! Thanks for hosting. I’m really enjoying the geese living in the Back Forty. I’m not sure they are quite as happy with my company. πŸ™‚

  22. Snap April 22, 2012 at 8:02 am #

  24. Marigold and the Goatmother April 22, 2012 at 9:25 am #

Maybe those geese are going to hatch some babies!

    • Teresa April 22, 2012 at 9:49 am #

Wouldn’t that be fun. It wouldn’t surprise me if they do have a nest somewhere, but they aren’t sitting yet.

  25. Gattina April 22, 2012 at 9:30 am #

When I was a child I loved to blow them away !

    • Teresa April 22, 2012 at 9:50 am #

It was such fun to make a wish to be carried off with the seed!

  26. NatureFootstep April 22, 2012 at 11:28 am #

Thanks. We are really about a month ahead of normal. It’s unbelievable.

  27. Al April 22, 2012 at 12:06 pm #

They are indeed beautiful, but I still don’t want them on my lawn. Great shots!

    • Teresa April 22, 2012 at 12:47 pm #

These are out in the pasture, but I don’t mind them in my yard either. I guess I’m still just a kid at heart!

  28. pinkoddy April 22, 2012 at 4:44 pm #

I love how soft and fluffy you have captured them as

    • Teresa April 22, 2012 at 5:44 pm #

  32. Elizabeth Rodriguez April 23, 2012 at 7:31 am #

    • Teresa April 23, 2012 at 7:49 am #

Thanks. I was pleased with the way they turned out. Surprised, but pleased.

  33. Leah Beecher April 23, 2012 at 9:44 am #

    Just love these dandelion shots.
You captured the lightness and the softness of these plants perfectly.
My three year old calls these “wishin’ flowers” when they go to seed because we always blow the seeds and make a wish.
    Well done.

    • Teresa April 23, 2012 at 9:57 am #

I remember those wishes when I was a kid. πŸ™‚ You just have to love dandelions!

Neat dandelion picts, Teresa. I really like the first one! Looks like you have been busy on the farm. Glad the cattle are doing well. Looks like the goats are ready to eat green grass too.

    • Teresa April 24, 2012 at 8:18 am #

The goats are more than ready. They’re about to revolt on me and storm the gate when I come into the barnyard. πŸ™‚
