I’ve been saying all spring that we are about a month ahead of where we usually are with our trees this year. Here’s one more blossom that’s early.
My strawberry plants are covered in blooms. They’re supposed to give me fruit in June. I’m barley getting them uncovered by this time.
After the freezes we had earlier, I wasn’t sure if I’d have any fruit from my fruit trees. Well, the cherry tree is covered in tiny fruit.
There are little peaches.
My plum has fruit, but I don’t think there’s as many as there would have been without the freeze.
I’m still waiting to see if the apples will get fruit.
Finally, my big oak trees are getting their leaves.
They are so big and old, and I’m afraid that many of the ones in the pasture are in bad shape from years of animals rubbing against them.
This one right by my house was heavily damaged in storms last summer.
These trees are also by my house. I love the shade they provide, but you can see that one was also hit by lightening many years ago. I had the entire side of the tree removed to prevent it from splitting further.
It seems to have been a successful way to save it. I really think I need to start some new big shade trees.

As long as nothing more happens. Of course, I’m still waiting to decide on the apples.
After 23 years, I am still waiting for apples on my 2 trees. I get the blossoms but that is it. You sky shots are drop dead beautiful. Ours have been so gray for so long because of the 5 forest fires, but they are about under control now and the air is mucho better. Take care and have a nice weekend.genie
I usually have lots of apples on this tree, but the last two years we’ve had horrible weather, and this year I’m still waiting to see.

My husband picked our first strawberry from the patch this evening. I couldn’t believe we have strawberries already. We usually don’t have them until the end of May. We also have little peaches on our peach trees. Like you we don’t know about the apple trees yet. Here in WV we are running about a month ahead also. We actually mowed our yard the last week of March. The weather is out of control this year!!!

We’ve been mowing too. It sounds like we’re about the same place you are. Hope you get some apples. I do love my giant oak trees, but they are so old. I lost three to storms last year.

I just helped her nurse one side (that Maxine didn’t want Norman on) and then she went to the other side and nursed on her own. We are about a month ahead of normal. I can’t believe we have strawberries blooming already.

I really hope that you get fruit from your fruit trees this year. It has been such a crazy spring weather-wise. Your trees are beautiful. I’m really glad you were able to save that one that was damaged in the storm last year.
I really do love my trees. I want to try and plant some maple and oak in the back forty to start growing into shade trees before I lose anymore.

How nice it would be to have fruit trees of your own! Are they a lot of work…spraying…pruning, etc?
Not the way I do it! 😉 They should be more work than I put into them.
Same here, everything is about a month ahead. They were picking strawberries at Easter!
That is crazy! I’m not going to be done teaching yet when I have to start picking them.
I have strawberries about the size of my thumbnail already, very surprising! We lost all the little plums to a couple of freezing nights and I still can’t find any little peaches but the pears are doing well! Love all your big trees and good to hear that Norma Jean is doing well! 🙂
I’m very glad those fruits are doing well. I’m hoping that my apples will be okay too. Sorry to hear about your plums. It’s a relief that Norma Jean is getting this nursing thing down.

Loving your blossoming trees, I do hope you get some fruit this year, I’ve tried growing apples in my backyard, I never seem to get it right, they always end up not growing and dying..
This tree has been very prolific through the years, but our weather has not cooperated the last couple. Hopefully, this year will be another good one for the apples.
Everything looks so nice. Here our spring is late so everything is late in blooming.
