My Favorite Place

27 Oct

It probably isn’t hard to guess that my favorite place to be is my farm.  I share my home with family, my son,

and friends, both furry and feathered.  I love walking through the fields and pastures.

I have fences surrounding my property.   Even though they are somewhat in need of repair, they make me feel secure.

We plan on replacing some of the fences to help me feel confident that my animal friends will stay where they belong.  I love growing and preserving my own food.

It tastes so much better when it is fresh, even though we don’t have much fresh food right now because it is fall.  We have falling temperatures right now.  It was mid-seventies on Monday, and today it is frigid mid thirties, rain, and hurricane force winds.  We are expecting our first freeze tonight, so I had to bring in my pumpkins and flower pots.

Outside, I have a few flowers still trying to decorate the landscape with color.

It is time to say farewell to the flora.  This farm will still be my favorite place, even when it is freezing and sleeping beneath snow drifts.

This is being submitted to Mrs. Matlock’s Alphabe-Thursday.  Visit her blog for more posts featuring the fabulous letter F.

If I do snow, I hope it’s at least in January. I could live with a brown Christmas this year!

Your pictures are lovely! I had cousins in Ft. Madison so the scenery looks familiar. Now I live in central Indiana so this looks like home : )

Your farm looks like the perfect place to enjoy both long summer days and cold winter nights. Both the simplicity and complication of farm life makes it unique and rewarding. I love this post!

What a beautiful peaceful journey through your life you shared with us this week on Alphabe-Thursday.

It soothes my heart to come here…and I thank you sincerely for that.

First frost. Oh, I remember that well from my years and years in Ohio. The frantic scrambling to bring all the not ripe tomatoes in, digging out the old burlap and sheets to try and prolong summer for a week days longer!

Thanks for posting this. I really, really loved it here today.

And here’s witching you a BOOtiful Halloween, too!

    A+

Thank you so much! We’ve had a record long growing season this year with nasty allergens, so I’m not too upset about a freeze; just not quite ready for snow.
