Every summer Maxine gets to go on an extended date with the bull.  After spending a lot of time in the pasture the last couple of days, I decided I better check the gestation table to see when she could have her baby.  If she were bred the first day that she was put in with the bull, she would be due on April 20th.  I don’t think she is due that soon.  I’m guessing close to May first.

It’s hard to get an exact date when she’s not at home when she is bred.  The goat gestation table I use is very accurate.  I’m at 90% of my goat births being between two days before and two days after the assigned date.  This is really helpful knowing when to prepare.  At least Maxine has never had problems having her babies.  The man I purchased her from is a leader in selective breeding for positive traits.  Ease of birth is one of the traits they have bred into their herd.
