Well, I went and checked my “fence” between the two sides.  Usually, the door below is open, but I have some girls I don’t want on the same side as Boeris.  I wired the cattle panel across the doorway, but I’m guessing someone caught a horn and broke my wire.  It was loose on the right hand side.

Boeris is a boy, and some of the girls should not be near him because they do not need to have kids.

Of course, those are the girls that were on the wrong side.  After putting Minnie back where she belonged, I found Cookie and Casey on the wrong side.  I returned them to where they belong, but they were back out before I was.  I grabbed my wire and cutters and refastened the panel.  Then Cookie stayed where she belongs and was happy eating with her maa, Scarlet.

Casey was a sassy guy, “Would ya leave me alone?  I’m eatin’ here.”  I have to say I really love this little stinker.

Then I discovered Stormy.  I hadn’t seen her before.  I’m not sure if she had been out all along or if she followed Casey and Cookie as they came out the second time.

Stormy and I were walking through the chicken pen and barn because that’s the only way in there since I wired the panel back in place.  Suddenly, Naughty Rooster Boy decided to attack.  Now, I try to be minimal in catching him as he attacks and just meeting him with my foot so he falls down.  My aim has been off.  I feel bad because I’ve ended up kicking him when I miss.  Tonight, I missed catching him.  It was probably because I was leading Stormy who was in a panic because she’s very shy and nervous and I was yelling, “Stop it!  Get away! Leave me alone!”

Anyhow, I missed and he got me.  He even drew blood. Dang NAUGHTY rooster.  It wasn’t a mortal wound, though, so I continued through the building and returned Stormy to her proper side.  Then I saw Sallie.  She was supposed to be with Boeris.  I grabbed her and back through the chicken building we went.  I must say, I did take a small wicked delight when out of the corner of my eye I saw the big colorful peacock bounce on top of Naughty Rooster Boy.

Ordinarily I frown on such behavior.  I much prefer inter-species friendships, but tonight, I felt a little wicked glee at the sight.  He might not be a knight in shining armor, but for tonight he was my hero.  Plus he’s colorful, which is this week’s theme for You Capture.

Finally I got chores finished and everyone was kind of settling down, so I got my camera and started taking pictures (using my new flash).  Sallie looks a bit disappointed that I fixed the fence.

Now why on earth was I worried about finding something to post for Farmgirl Friday?  No problems.

They have such attitude.  They come right up on the deck and steal the dog’s food.

They get pretty used to me watching them through the window (I really need to clean the cat nose prints off the window).

I’ve been horrible.  I haven’t put up the bird feeders yet.  Of course, they’ve had plenty to eat, but I’ll have to get them up and filled since we’re cold and snowy now.

I just wish I could train them to clean up after Stella’s mess in the deck slats.
